Childhood Up

Early Years

Charles Babbage was born in 26th September 1791.   He was born in Teignmouth Devon and later moved to London which is where he later died in 1871.  Charles was born as the industrial revolution was starting.  At the age of five years, he suffered in health and again at that of ten by violent fevers, from which it was hard to save him from. He was sent into Devon and placed under the care of a vicar with instructions to attend to his health; but, not to teach him too much.

College

In 1810 Babbage entered Trinity college, Cambridge and went on in 1814 to graduate from Peterhouse.  Babbage later received his MA from Cambridge.  In 1914 Babbage married his wife Georgina Whitmore.
