Railways

Trains were very useful for the general public Home

In the early 1700's the invention of the steam engine was a Godsend already a fast, safe way of getting around was desperately needed and the rise in industry fitted hand in hand with the invention of the steam train. Industry was needed a mode of transport to take bulk material to site around the region . At this particularly time  only bulk materials like coal, stone and iron were transported inn such a way.

The invention of the steam engine lead to the development of steam locomotives and steam ships. changes in transport lead to reater demand for steam engines, coal and iron. This meant that more raw material had to be transported.

An example of a railway created for this purpose was Foxfield Railway station. For more information on Foxfield check out www.foxfieldrailway.co.uk
