The Challenge

Do you care about poverty and injustice in the world?

Do you want to change the way things are?

Do you want to SHOUT FOR JUSTICE?

Have you got the guts to get global? Then read on....

The Facts

We spend 260 million on overseas charities, but 5 billion on chocolate

A teenager making trainers in a Chinese factory would have to work six days a week for 15 centuries to earn what the boss of Nike earns in a year

Someone is killed or injured by a landmine every 15 minutes

By the year 2000, two-thirds of the world's 6 billion people will be under 25. What if they were all to SHOUT FOR JUSTICE?

The Action

All over the world young people are at the forefront of the fight for justice. Through CAFOD, you can get behind people like...

The gang who called themselves Narcos - druggies - changed their name to Guardian Angels soon after arriving at mural painting workshops for street children in Nicaragua. As older boys, they said their role was to protect the younger ones. Porfirio Triminio, 18, now teaches painting at the classes:

"I want to pass on the talents and confidence I've learned to other young people."

"Working together, having faith, and sharing ideas, we all CAN make a difference,"

says Angela Pike, who campaigns against landmines, poverty, unfair trade and debt with friends in the West Midlands.

Ranilo Quindao, 23, was killed because he was a human rights activist in the Philippines. The young people's fight for rights continues.

Isabelle is 21 years old and works just outside Santiago, Chile. She has work for six months of the year, packing fruit.

"If you get pregnant, you hide it for as long as possible, because you lose your job."

Isabelle has formed a union at her workplace so that she can work with others to secure fairer working conditions.

"A woman in Bangladesh is worth less than a goat,"

says Babita Khatun, who at the age of ten was married to a man who beat her when she couldn't provide a dowry. At 13 she had a baby and at 14 she was divorced. Now 19 she is a valiant campaigner for women's rights in her community.
