Sporting activities include:
"The staff provide good role
models."
Ofsted, April 1997 |
- Basketball, Cricket, Athletics, Cross-Country, Netball, Rounders,
Football, Rugby, Swimming, Hockey, Tennis and Badminton.
- The Gymnastics Festival is held over two/three nights at the end of
the Spring Term. Over 200 pupils are involved each year.
The confidence, poise and skill of the pupils participating is most
impressive. They practise during dinnertime and after school as
part of the Gymnastics Club. The Gymnastics Festival is an
outstanding event at Painsley Catholic High School.

Many educational trips, including visits abroad, are also organised.
These include:
- Fieldwork expeditions, Ski-ing in Italy and France, Hockey trips abroad,
residential retreat courses and many visits to theatres, museums and
exhibitions.
- The annual trips to France and Germany organised by the Modern Languages
Department are for Year 9 and usually involve about 80-90 pupils and
staff. Such wonderful experiences enhance the teaching and learning of
languages.
Painsley is particularly noted for its music, drama productions, gymnastics
festivals and sporting achievements.
"Provision for social and
cultural development is good."

Links with Holland
For many years the Midland Hockey Association and Painsley Catholic
High School teams have visited Holland at the end of May each year and our
hockey teams have been complimented on numerous occasions for their
"outstanding performance" in this International Tournament.
In return every year 50 boys and girls from the Union Hockey Club in
Nijmegan visit Painsley during the month of October, staying with families
and spending some time at school.
A quote from Henk van Groenestijn, the party leader, "The boys and
girls have a fantastic time at the Painsley School. The trip is a
marvellous idea leading to a greater understanding for all in a growing
Europe."
