Years 10 and 11 Curriculum
|
Towards the end of
Year 9, parents and pupils are consulted about the subject choices (called
Options) available in Years 10 and 11. Guidance is given by the
staff on a balanced choice of subjects. Each pupil receives an
Option Booklet outlining the subjects available, details concerning the
content and methods of teaching. A talk on the Year 10 and 11
curriculum, including options, will be given to parents and pupils and a
Parents' Evening will be held to discuss progress in the individual
subjects.
Compulsory Core
Subjects in Years 10 and 11
- Religious Education (G.C.S.E.)
- English (G.C.S.E.) & English Literature (G.C.S.E.)
- Mathematics (G.C.S.E.)
- Physical Education
- Science (Physics, Chemistry & Biology) leading to Dual G.C.S.E.
Certification. Some pupils will take three G.C.S.E.'s in the
individual Science subjects: Physics, Chemistry & Biology
- French (G.C.S.E.) or German (G.C.S.E.)
- One G.C.S.E. Design and Technology subject chosen from: Technology
Systems, Graphics Products, Food Technology, Textiles Technology,
Resistant Materials

Option Subjects
Pupils also opt for TWO other G.C.S.E. subjects from an option list
which includes:
- French
- German
- History
- Geography
- Music
- Art and Design
- Theory and Practice of P.E.
- Information and Communications Technology
- Child Development

Information and
Communications Technology is delivered in all subjects and, in
particular, Science and Technology.
In addition all pupils follow courses in Personal, Social and Careers
Education ( a Pastoral Curriculum in each Year group).
In Years 10 and 11 pupils take part in the Records of Achievemnt
scheme, which is accredited by the Midlands Examination Board. |
