Beliefs and Values

Aim:

To gain a knowledge and understanding of Catholic beliefs and values about the nature of God, as expressed in the Apostles creed, and evaluate different points of views to them.

 

Objectives:

·        To explore Christian beliefs about God: The father (LK 11:1-4), and creator (GN 1:1-2,3)

·        To understand the doctrine of the trinity and term monotheism.

·        To explore beliefs about Jesus as expressed in the Apostles creed, including the nature of Jesus’ birth, death and resurrection.

·        Christian beliefs about the Holy Spirit.

·        Christian beliefs about sin and salvation (LK 19:1-10).

·        To identify Christian values of loving God and neighbour (MK 12:29-31, LK 10:25-37, MT 25:31-46).

 

Lessons:

1.     God the father, creator of heaven and earth.

2.     The doctrine of the trinity.

3.     The Apostles creed.

4.     God the son, who was born, suffered and died but rose again.

5.     The Holy Spirit as our guide for Christian living.

6.     Sin and salvation.

7.     Loving God and neighbour.

8.     Assessment.
