Beatitudes
The Beatitudes
are found in Matthew chapter 5. They mark the beginning of the Sermon on the
Mount. The word Beatitude means happiness or blessing, and the series of
Beatitudes identified by Matthew are designed to outline what characterises
spiritual happiness.
In the table below identify what each of the Beatitudes
means and give an appropriate example for each.

are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the
