Different Kinds of Prayer

There are many different kinds of prayer

Sometimes we think that praying just means asking for things. This is wrong. There are lots of different kinds of prayer.

Activity 1: Have you got spots?

  1. In your exercise books, draw round your hand.
  1. On each finger nail on the drawing, write the letters: S P O T S
  2. Copy the words in the box along each finger.

Activity 2: Kinds of Prayer

Here are five different prayers. Which one of the S. P. O. T. S. is each prayer?

Copy out each of the words which begins with S. P. O. T. S. and add the correct prayer underneath.

  1. For bikes and ice-creams and holidays, we thank you, Lord.
  2. Lord, we pray for everyone who is sick, or lonely or worried. May they always know that you are near to them. Lord, hear us.
  3. Lord, we have sinned against you, Lord have mercy.
  4. Father, help me pass my exams. Make it easier for me to do my revision, and help me to remember everything I learn. Lord, in your mercy, hear my prayer
  5. Almighty God, I find it hard to do things right. Help me to know what you want me to do and live how you want me to live. Today and always. Amen..

Activity 3: Poster or Poem on Prayer

Either: Design and draw a poster that says what prayer means for you.

Or: write a poem about prayer. Every line must begin with ‘Prayer is …
