There are
three primary schools in Cheadle and relations between the schools are excellent. We share
outdoor facilities at one, and co-operate on many aspects.
St. Giles' belongs to the group of schools whose pupils would hope
to transfer to Painsley R.C. High School. The Painsley R.C. High School catchment area
covers the seven catholic parishes of Leek, Tean, Caverswall, Alton, Uttoxeter, Cotton and
Cheadle. Painsley school has its own admissions arrangements but as a feeder school all of
our Catholic children expect to transfer to Painsley at the end of year 6 (age 11).
Whilst we would hope that all our Non-Cathol ic children would also
transfer to Painsley we, at St. Giles, can make no categorical promises to this effect.
This'pyramid' group as it is called meets regularly at Headteacher, Class Teacher, subject
and pupil level. There are many activities planned for the eight schools over the year and
the variety of programmes offered is admired by many across the County.
The Cheadle area boasts an excellent reputation in sport and in
music and the co-operation of the schools ensures that many widely acclaimed festivals and
events take place.
