The Core Four.

What is the Core Four?

The core four consists of a monitor, a mouse, a keyboard and a CPU.  We have called this the core four as if you didn't have all of these parts then your computer would not work. 

CPU

The CPU is the Central processing unit. It is the box in which you would insert floppy disks and CD's into. 

Monitor

The monitor allows you to view your work whilst producing and before printing. 

Mouse

The mouse allows you to move around the page more easily, they are available in lots of different colours nowadays. 

Keyboard

The keyboard is the piece of equipment that allows you to move around the page easily.

Why should I invest in a computer?

There are few disadvantages and many advantages with having a computer:

The disadvantages are;

It costs quite a lot to buy and run.

Err... that's it!

The advantages are;

When trying to present work it allows you to do it neatly and quickly.

You can buy games to play on it.

It allows you access to the internet.

It can be a good research source.

It has helped with scientific knowledge of medicine and it could help you to find out something that could make you into a hero.

 

Who can use a computer?

Everyone and anyone can use a computer. The younger generation are probably more able than the older generation. Information Technology has now become a core subject in the national curriculum. Children at primary schools are now being taught how to use computers at the age of around 3 years old. They are used for learning in nursery schools, there are many games that can help the children to recognize certain things like colours, words and animals. The sooner you get your children familiar with computers the better!
