The Words of the Songs
All creatures of our God and King,
Lift up your voice and with us sing
Alleluia, alleluia!
Thou burning sun with golden beam
thou silver moon with softer gleam:
O praise him, O praise him,
Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!
Thou rushing wind that art so strong
Ye clouds that sail in heaven along,
O praise him, alleluia
Thou rising morn, in praise rejoice,
Ye lights of evening, find a voice:
O praise him, O praise him,
Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!
Thou flowing water, pure and clear,
Make music for thy Lord to hear,
Alleluia, alleluia!
Thou fire so masterful and bright,
That givest man both warmth and light:
O praise him, O praise him,
Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!
Dear mother earth who day by day
Unfoldest blessings on our way
O praise him, alleluia
The flowers and fruits that in thee grow,
let them his glory also show:
O praise him, O praise him,
Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!
And all ye men of tender heart,
forgiving others take your part,
O sing ye, alleluia!
Ye who long pain and sorrow bear,
praise God and on him cast your care:
O praise him, O praise him,
Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!
And thou, most kind and gentle death,
waiting to hush our latest breath,
O praise him, alleluia!
Thou leadest home the child of God,
and Christ the Lord the way hath trod:
O praise him, O praise him,
Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!
Let all things their creator bless,
and worship him in humbleness,
O praise him, alleluia
Praise, praise the Father, praise the Son,
and praise the Spirit, three in One:
O praise him, O praise him,
Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!
All hail the power of Jesu's name;
let angels prostrate fall;
bring forth the royal diadem
to crown him, crown him,
crown him, crown him Lord of all.
Crown him, ye martyrs of your God,
who from his altar call;
praise him whose way of pain ye trod,
and crown him Lord of all.
Ye prophets who our freedom won,
ye searchers great and small,
by whom the work of truth is done,
now crown him Lord of all.
Sinners, whose love can ne'er forget
the wormwood and the gall,
go spread your trophies at his feet,
and crown him Lord of all.
Bless him, each poor oppressèd race
that Christ did upward call;
his hand in each achievement trace,
and crown him Lord of all
Let every tribe and every tongue
to him their hearts enthral:
lift high the universal song,
and crown him Lord of all.
All things bright and beautiful,
All creatures great and small,
all things wise and wonderful:
The Lord God made them all.
Each little flower that opens,
each little bird that sings,
he made their glowing colours,
he made their tiny wings.
All things bright and beautiful,
All creatures great and small,
all things wise and wonderful:
The Lord God made them all.
The purple headed mountain,
the river running by,
the sunset and the morning,
that brightens up the sky.
All things bright and beautiful,
All creatures great and small,
all things wise and wonderful:
The Lord God made them all.
The tall trees in the greenwood,
the meadows for our play,
the rushes by the water,
to gather every day;
All things bright and beautiful,
All creatures great and small,
all things wise and wonderful:
The Lord God made them all.
The cold wind in the winter,
the pleasant summer sun,
the ripe fruits in the garden,
he made them every one.
All things bright and beautiful,
All creatures great and small,
all things wise and wonderful:
The Lord God made them all.
He gave us eyes to see them,
and lips that we might tell
how great is God almighty,
who has made all things well.
All things bright and beautiful,
All creatures great and small,
all things wise and wonderful:
The Lord God made them all.
All ye who seek a comfort sure
in trouble or distress,
whatever sorrow vex the mind,
or guilt the soul oppress;
Jesus who gave himself for you
upon the cross to die,
opens to you his sacred heart;
oh, to that heart draw nigh.
Ye hear how kindly he invites;
ye hear his words so blest:
'All ye that labour come to me,
and I will give you rest.'
Jesus thou joy of saints on high,
thou hope of sinners here,
attracted by those loving words
to thee I life my prayer.
Wash thou my wounds in that dear blood
which forth from thee doth flow;
new grace, new hope inspire a new
and better heart bestow.
ALLELUIA! SING TO JESUS!
his the sceptre, his the throne,
alleluia, his the triumph,
his the victory alone:
hark the songs of peaceful Sion
thunder like a mighty flood:
Jesus, out of every nation,
hath redeemed us by his blood.
Alleluia, not as orphans
are we left in sorrow now;
alleluia, he is near us,
faith believes, nor questions how;
though the cloud from sight received him
when the forty days were o'er,
shall our hearts forget his promise,
'I am with you evermore'?
Alleluia, Bread of Angels,
thou on earth our food, our stay;
alleluia, here the sinful
flee to thee from day to day;
intercessor, friend of sinners,
earth's redeemer, plead for me,
where the songs of all the sinless
sweep across the crystal sea.
Alleluia, King eternal
thee the Lord of lords we own;
alleluia, born of Mary,
earth thy footstool, heaven thy throne;
thou within the veil hast entered,
robed in flesh, our great High Priest;
thou on earth both priest and victim
in the Eucharistic Feast.
ALLELUIA, ALLELUIA, GIVE THANKS TO THE RISEN LORD.
Alleluia, alleluia, give praise to his name.
Jesus is Lord of all the earth
He is the King of creation.
Alleluia, alleluia ...
Spread the good news o'er all the earth.
Jesus has died and has risen.
Alleluia, alleluia ...
We have been crucified with Christ.
Now we shall live for ever.
Alleluia, alleluia ...
God has proclaimed the just reward.
Life for all men, alleluia.
Alleluia, alleluia ...
Come let us praise the living God,
joyfully sing to our Saviour.
Alleluia, alleluia ...
As I kneel before you
as I bow my head in prayer
take this day, make it yours
and fill me with your love.
Ave Maria, gratia plena,
Dominus tecum, benedicta tu.
All I have I give you,
ev'ry dream and wish are yours.
Mother of Christ, Mother of mine,
present them to my Lord.
Ave...
As I kneel before you
and see your smiling face,
ev'ry thought, ev'ry word
is lost in your embrace.
Ave...
At the Lamb's High Feast we sing
praise to our Victorious King:
who hath washed us in the tide
flowing from his piercèd side;
praise we him whose love divine
gives the gusts his blood for wine,
gives the body for the feast,
love the victim, love the priest.
Where the Paschal blood is poured
Death's dark angel sheathes his sword;
Israel's hosts triumphant go
through the wave that drowns the foe.
Christ the Lamb whose blood was shed,
Paschal victim, Paschal Bread!
with sincerity and love
eat we manna from above.
Mighty Victim from on high,
powers of hell beneath thee lie;
Death is broken in the fight,
thou hast brought us life and light.
Now thy banner thou dost wave,
conquering Satan and the grave.
See the prince of darkness quelled;
heaven's bright gates are open held.
Paschal triumph, Paschal joy,
only sin can this destroy;
from sin's death do thou set free,
souls re-born, dear Lord, in thee.
Hymns of glory, songs of praise,
Father, unto thee we raise.
Risen Lord, all praise to thee,
ever with the Spirit be.
Ave Maria, O Maiden, O Mother,
fondly thy children are calling on thee;
thine are the graces unclaimed by another,
sinless and beautiful Star of the sea.
Mater amabilis, ora pro nobis,
pray for thy children who call upon thee;
Ave sanctissima, ave purissima,
sinless and beautiful Star of the sea.
Ave Maria, the night shades are falling,
softly, our voices arise unto thee;
earth's lonely exiles for succour are calling,
sinless and beautiful Star of the sea.
Mater amabilis ...
Ave Maria, thy children are kneeling,
words of endearment are murmured to thee;
softly thy spirit upon us is stealing,
sinless and beautiful Star of the sea.
Mater amabilis ...
Away in a manger, no crib for a bed,
the little Lord Jesus laid down his sweet head;
the stars in the bright sky looked down where he lay,
the little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay.
The cattle are lowing, the baby awakes,
but little Lord Jesus, no crying he makes:
I love you, Lord Jesus - look down from on high
and stay by my side until morning is nigh.
Be near me, Lord Jesus, I ask you to stay
close by me for ever and love me, I pray;
bless all the dear children in your tender care,
and fit us for heaven to live with you there.
Be still and know that I am God.
Be still and know that I am God.
Be still and know that I am God.
I am the Lord that healeth thee...
In thee, O Lord, I put my trust ...
Be still for the presence of the Lord, the Holy one is here.
Come bow before him now, with reverence and fear.
In him no sin is found, we stand on Holy ground.
Be still for the presence of the Lord, the Holy one is here.
Be still, for the glory of the Lord is shining all around;
He burns with holy fire, with splendour he is crowned.
How awesome is the sight, our radiant king of light !
Be still, for the glory of the Lord is shining all around.
Be still, for the power of the Lord is moving in this place,
He comes to cleanse and heal, to minister his grace.
No work to hard for him, in faith receive from him;
Be still for the power of the Lord is moving in this place.
BE thou my vision, O Lord of my heart,
naught be all else to me save that thou art;
thou my best thought in the day and the night
waking or sleeping, thy presence my light.
Be thou my wisdom, be thou my true word,
I ever with thee and thou with me, Lord;
thou my great Father, and I thy true son;
thou in me dwelling and I with thee one.
Be thou my breast-plate, my sword for the fight,
be thou my armour, and be thou my might,
thou my soul's shelter and thou my high tower
raise thou me heavenward, O power of my power.
Riches I heed not nor man's empty praise
thou mine inheritance through all my days,
thou, and thou only, the first in my heart,
high King of heaven, my treasure thou art!
High King of heaven when battle is done
grant heaven's joy to me, O bright heaven's sun;
Christ of my own heart, whatever befall,
still be my vision, O ruler of all.
BIND US TOGETHER, LORD,
bind us together,
with cords that cannot be broken.
Bind us together, Lord,
bind us together,
bind us together with love.
There is only one God,
there is only one King
there is only one Body
that is why we sing:
Bind us together, Lord ...
Made for the glory of God,
purchased by his precious Son,
born with the right to be clean,
for Jesus the victory has won.
Bind us together, Lord ...
You are the family of God,
you are the promise divine,
you are God's chosen desire,
you are the glorious new wine.
Bind us together, Lord ...
Blessed and praised, be Jesus Christ,
in the most holy sacrament!
Hosanna, hosanna, hosanna in excelsis!
Blessed Assurance, Jesus is mine:
O what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God;
Born of his Spirit, washed in his blood
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Saviour all the day long.
Perfect submission, perfect delight,
visions of rapture burst on my sight;
Angels descending, bring from above
echoes of mercy, whispers of love.
This is my story ...
Perfect submission, all is at rest,
I in my Saviour am happy and blest;
Watching and waiting, looking above,
Filled with his goodness, lost in his love
This is my story ...
Blest are the pure in heart
for they shall see our God;
the secret of the Lord is theirs,
their soul is Christ's abode.
The Lord who left the heavens
our life and peace to bring,
to dwell in lowliness with men,
their pattern and their king.
Still to the lowly soul
he doth himself impart
and for his dwelling and his throne
chooseth the pure in heart.
Lord, we thy presence seek;
may ours this blessing be:
give us a pure and lowly heart,
a temple meet for thee.
Blest are you Lord God of all creation
thanks to your goodness this bread we offer:
fruit of the earth, work of our hands,
it will become the bread of life.
Blessed be God! Blessed be God!
Blessed be God forever! Amen!
Blessed be God! Blessed be God!
Blessed be God forever! Amen!
Blest are you Lord God of all creation
thanks to your goodness this wine we offer:
Fruit of the earth, work of our hands,
it will become the cup of life.
BREATHE ON ME, BREATH OF GOD
Fill me with life anew,
that I may love what thou dost love,
and do what thou wouldst do.
Breathe on me, breath of God,
Until my heart is pure,
until with thee I will one will,
to do and to endure.
Breathe on me, breath of God,
till I am wholly thine,
until this earthly part of me
glows with the fire divine.
Breathe on me, breath of God,
so shall I never die,
but live with thee the perfect life
of thine eternity.
Christ is made the sure foundation
and the precious corner stone,
who, the two walls underlying,
bound in each, binds both in one,
holy Sion's help for ever,
and her confidence alone.
All that dedicated city,
dearly loved by God on high
in exultant jubilation
pours perpetual melody,
God the One, in Threefold glory,
singing everlastingly.
To this temple, where we call thee,
come, O Lord of hosts today;
with thy wonted-loving kindness,
hear thy people as they pray
and thy fullest benediction
shed within its wall for ay.
Here vouchsafe to all thy servants
gifts of grace by prayer to gain;
here to have and hold for ever,
those good things their prayers obtain,
and hereafter, in thy glory,
with thy blessed ones to reign.
Laud and honour to the Father,
laud and honour to the Son
laud and honour to the Spirit,
ever Three and ever One,
One in love, and One in splendour,
while unending ages run.
Christ Jesus has died! Alleluia!
Christ Jesus is ris'n! Alleluia!
Christ Jesus will come again as the Lord!
Alleluia! Alleluia!
Christian dost thou see them
on the holy ground,
How the troops of Midian
Prowl and prowl around?
Christian up and smite them,
counting gain but loss;
smite them by the merit
of the Holy Cross
Christian, dost thou feel them,
how they work within:
striving, tempting, luring,
goading into sin?
Christian, never tremble;
never be down-cast;
smite them by the virtue
of the Lenten fast.
Christian dost thou hear them
how they speak thee fair?
'always fast and vigil?
always watch and prayer?'
Christian, answer boldly,
'While I breathe, I pray'
Peace shall follow battle,
Night shall end in day.
'Well I know thy trouble,
O my servant true;
thou art very weary -
I was weary too;
But that toil shall make thee
some day all mine own,
and the end of sorrow
shall be near my throne.
Colours of Day dawn into the mind,
the sun has come up, the night is behind.
Go down in the city, into the street,
and let's give the message to the people we meet.
So light up the fire and let the flame burn,
open the door, let Jesus return.
Take seeds of his Spirit, let the fruit grow,
Tell the people of Jesus, let his love show.
Go through the park, on into the town;
the sun still shines on, it never goes down.
The light of the world is risen again;
the people of darkness are needing our friend.
So light up the fire ...
Open your eyes, look into the sky,
the darkness has come, the sun came to die.
The evening draws on, the sun disappears,
but Jesus is living, his Spirit is near.
So light up the fire ...
Come down, O Love divine,
seek thou this soul of mine,
and visit it with thine own ardour glowing;
O Comforter, draw near,
within my heart appear,
and kindle it thy holy flame bestowing.
O let it freely burn,
till earthly passions turn
to dust and ashes in its heat consuming;
and let thy glorious light
shine ever on my sight,
and clothe me round the while my path illuming.
Let holy charity
mine outward vesture be,
and lowliness become mine inner clothing;
true lowliness of heart,
which takes the humbler part,
and o'er its own shortcomings weeps with loathing.
And so the yearning strong,
with which the soul will long,
shall far outpass the power of human telling;
for none can guess its grace,
till he become the place
wherein the Holy Spirit makes his dwelling.
Come on and celebrate,
his gift of love we will celebrate,
the Son of God who loves us and gave us life.
We'll shout your praise O King,
you give us joy nothing else can bring,
we'll give to you our offering
in celebration praise.
Come on and celebrate, celebrate,
celebrate and sing,
celebrate and sing to the King.
Come on and celebrate, celebrate,
celebrate and sing,
celebrate and sing to the King.
Come, thou long expected Jesus,
come to set thy people free,
from our fears and sins release us,
let us find our rest in thee.
Israel's strength and consolation,
Hope of all the earth thou art,
dear desire of every nation,
joy of every longing heart.
Born thy people to deliver,
born a child and yet a king,
born to reign in us for ever,
now thy gracious kingdom bring.
By thine own eternal Spirit,
rule in all our hearts alone;
by thine all sufficient merit,
raise us to thy glorious throne.
Crown him with many crowns,
the Lamb upon his throne;
hark, how the heavenly anthem drowns
all music but its own:
awake, my soul, and sing
of him who died for thee,
and hail him as thy matchless King
through all eternity.
Crown him the Virgin's Son,
the God incarnate born,
whose arm those crimson trophies won
which now his brow adorn;
fruit of the mystic rose,
as of that rose the stem,
the root, whence mercy ever flows,
the babe of Bethlehem.
Crown him the Lord of love;
behold his hands and side,
rich sounds, yet visible above,
in beauty glorified:
no angel in the sky
can fully bear that sight,
but downward bends his burning eye
at mysteries so bright.
Crown him the Lord of peace,
whose power a sceptre sways
from pole to pole, that wars may cease,
absorbed in prayer and praise:
his reign shall know no end,
and round his piercèd feet
fair flowers of Paradise extend
their fragrance ever sweet.
Crown him the Lord of heaven,
one with the Father known,
and the blest Spirit through him given
from yonder triune throne:
all hail, Redeemer, hail,
for thou hast died for me;
thy praise shall never, never fail
throughout eternity.
Dear Lord and Father of mankind,
forgive our foolish ways!
Re-clothe us in our rightful mind,
in purer lives thy service find,
in deeper reverence praise.
In simple trust like theirs who heard
beside the Syrian sea,
the gracious calling of the Lord,
let us, like them, without a word,
rise up and follow thee.
O Sabbath rest by Galilee!
O calm of hills above,
where Jesus knelt to share with thee
the silence of eternity,
interpreted by love!
Drop thy still dues of quietness,
till all our strivings cease;
take from our souls the strain and stress,
and let our ordered lives confess
the beauty of thy peace.
Breathe through the heats of our desire
thy coolness and thy balm;
let sense be dumb, let flesh retire;
speak through the earthquake, wind and fire,
O still small voice of calm!
Dear Saint Joseph, pure and gentle,
guardian of the Saviour child,
treading with the virgin mother,
Egypt's deserts rough and wild.
Hail, Saint Joseph,
spouse of Mary
blessed above all saints on high,
when the death-shades
round us gather,
teach, oh, teach us how to die.
He who rested on thy bosom
is by countless saints adored;
prostrate angels in his presence
sing hosannas to the their Lord.
Hail, Saint Joseph...
Now to thee no gift refusing,
Jesus stoops to hear thy prayer;
then dear saint, from thy fair dwelling,
give to us a father's care.
Hail, Saint Joseph...
Faith of Our Fathers, living still
in spite of dungeon, fire and sword;
oh, how our hearts beat high with joy
whene'er we hear that glorious word!
Faith of our fathers! Holy Faith!
We will be true to thee till death,
we will be true to thee till death.
Our fathers, chained in prisons dark,
were still in heart and conscience free;
how sweet would be their children's fate,
if they like them, could die for thee!
Faith of our fathers! Holy Faith!
We will be true to thee till death,
we will be true to thee till death.
Faith of our fathers, Mary's prayers,
shall win our country back to thee;
and through the truth that comes from God
our lands shall then indeed be free.
Faith of our fathers! Holy Faith!
We will be true to thee till death,
we will be true to thee till death.
Faith of our fathers, Mary's prayers,
shall win our country back to thee;
and through the truth that comes from God
our land shall then indeed be free.
Faith of our fathers! Holy Faith!
We will be true to thee till death,
we will be true to thee till death.
Faith of our Fathers, we will love
both friend and foe in all our strife,
and preach thee too, as love knows how,
by kindly words and virtuous life.
Father God in heaven, Lord most high:
hear your children's prayer, Lord most high:
hallowed be your name, Lord most high -
O Lord, hear our prayer.
May your kingdom come here on earth
may your will be done here on earth
as it is in heaven, so on earth -
O Lord, hear our prayer.
Give us daily bread day by day,
and forgive our sins, day by day,
as we too forgive day by day -
O Lord, hear our prayer.
Lead us in your way, make us strong;
when temptations come, make us strong;
save us from all sin, keep us strong -
O Lord, hear our prayer.
All things come from you, all are yours -
kingdom, glory, power, all are yours;
take our lives and gifts, all are yours -
O Lord, hear our prayer.
FATHER WE ADORE YOU. Lay our lives before you. How we love you.
Jesus, we adore you. Lay our lives before you. How we love you.
Spirit, we adore you. Lay our lives before you. How we love you.
Father, we love you, worship and adore you.
Glorify your name in all the earth.
Glorify your name. Glorify your name.
Glorify your name in all the earth.
Jesus, we love you ...
Spirit, we love you ...
Firmly I believe and truly
God is three, and God is one,
and I next acknowledge duly
manhood taken by the Son.
And I trust and hope most fully
in that manhood crucified;
and each thought and deed unruly
do to death as he has died.
Simply to his grace and wholly
light and life and strength belong;
and I love supremely, solely,
him the holy, him the strong.
And I hold in veneration
for the love of him alone,
Holy church, as his creation,
and her teachings, as his own.
Adoration aye be given,
with and through the angelic hosts,
to the God of earth and heaven,
Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
Follow me, follow me,
leave your homes and family,
leave your fishing nets and boats
upon the shore.
Leave the seed that you have sown,
leave the crops that you've grown,
leave the people you have known
and follow me.
The foxes have their holes
and the swallows have their nests,
but the Son of man has
no place to lay down.
I do not offer comfort,
I do not offer wealth,
but in me will all happiness be found.
If you would follow me,
you must leave old ways behind.
You must take my cross and
follow on my path.
You may be far from loved one,
you may be far from home,
but my Father will welcome you at last.
Although I go away
you will never be alone,
for the Spirit will be
there to comfort you.
Though all of you may scatter,
each follow his own path,
still the Spirit of love will lead you home.
For all the saints who from their labours rest
who thee by faith before the world confest
thy name, O Jesus, be for ever blest.
Alleluia, alleluia!
Thou wast their rock, their fortress and their might;
thou, Lord their captain in the well fought fight;
thou in the darkness, drear their one true light
Alleluia, alleluia!
O may thy soldiers, faithful, true and bold,
fight as the saints who nobly fought of old,
and win with them, the victors crown of gold.
Alleluia, alleluia!
O blest communion, fellowship divine!
We feebly struggle, they in glory shine;
yet all are one in thee for all are thine.
Alleluia, alleluia!
And when the strife is fierce, the warfare long,
steals on the ear the distant triumph song
and hearts are brave again and arms are strong.
Alleluia, alleluia!
The golden evening brightens in the west;
soon, soon to faithful warriors cometh rest:
sweet is the calm of paradise the blest.
Alleluia, alleluia!
But lo! there breaks a yet more glorious day;
the saints triumphant rise in bright array:
the King of glory passes on his way.
Alleluia, alleluia!
From earth's wide bounds, from ocean's farthest coast,
through gates of pearl streams in the countless host,
singing to Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
Alleluia, alleluia!
Give me joy in my heart, keep me praising
Give me joy in my heart, I pray
Give me joy in my heart, keep me praising
keep me praising till the break of day:
Sing hosanna, sing hosanna,
sing hosanna to the King of kings
Sing hosanna, sing hosanna, sing hosanna to the King.
Give me peace in my heart, keep me resting ...
Give me love in my heart, keep me serving ...

Amen.
Glory be to Jesus, who in bitter pains,
poured for me the life-blood from his sacred veins.
Grace and life eternal in that Blood I find;
Blest be his compassion, infinitely kind.
Blest through endless ages be the precious stream,
which from endless torment doth the world redeem.
Abel's blood for vengeance pleaded to the skies;
but the blood of Jesus for our pardon cries.
Oft as it is sprinkled on our guilty hearts,
Satan in confusion terror-struck departs.
Oft as earth exulting wafts its praise on high,
hell with terror trembles, heaven is filled with joy.
Lift ye then your voices; swell the mighty flood;
Louder still and louder praise the precious Blood.

God is our strength and refuge,
our present help in trouble;
and we therefore will not fear,
though the earth should change!
Though mountains shake and tremble,
though swirling floods are raging,
God the Lord of hosts is with us evermore!
There is a flowing river
within god's holy city;
God is in the midst of her
she shall not be moved!
God's help is swiftly given
thrones vanish at his presence
God the Lord of hosts is with us evermore!
Come, see the works of our maker,
learn of his deeds all powerful:
wars will cease across the world
when he shatters the spear!
be still and know your creator,
uplift him in the nations
God the Lord of Hosts is with us evermore!
God of all living,
Father we praise you,
full of thanksgiving,
for so much love:
Now in this wedding,
come down amongst us,
pour out your blessing,
heavenly love.
Perfect companion,
God's gift in marriage,
one true communion,
help on life's way;
in need and plenty,
in joy and sorrow,
may we be faithful
every new day.
With love's true splendour,
Father, delight us,
each giving honour,
with faithfulness;
and may the sharing
of this sweet union
deepen our caring
with tenderness.
May there be children
fruit of our loving,
true men and women
with faith beside;
grant us your keeping
in all our future
your love caressing
Bridegroom and Bride.
GOD'S SPIRIT IS IN MY HEART.
He has called me and set me apart.
This is what I have to do,
what I have to do.
He sent me to bring the Good News to the poor,
tell prisoners that they are prisoners no more,
tell blind people that they can see,
and set the downtrodden free,
and go tell everyone
the news that the Kingdom of God has come,
and go tell everyone
the news that God's kingdom has come.
Just as the Father sent me,
so I'm sending you out to be
my witnesses throughout the world,
the whole of the world.
He sent me _
Don't carry a load in your pack,
you don't need two shirts on your back.
A workman can earn his own keep,
can earn his own keep.
He sent me _
Don't worry what you have to say,
don't worry because on that day
God's spirit will speak in your heart,
will speak in your heart.
He sent me _
GOOD CHRISTIAN MEN, REJOICE AND SING!
Now is the triumph of our King!
To all the world glad news we bring:
Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia
The Lord of Life is risen for ay:
bring flowers of song to strew his way;
let all mankind rejoice and say:
Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia
Praise we in songs of victory
that Love, that Life, which cannot die,
and sing with hearts uplifted high.
Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia
Thy name we bless, O risen Lord,
and sing today with one accord
the life laid down, the life restored:
Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia
Good Christians all, rejoice
with heart and soul and voice!
listen now to what we say
Jesus Christ is born today;
ox and ass before him bow
and he is in the manger now;
Christ is born today;
Christ is born today!
Good Christians all, rejoice
with heart and soul and voice!
hear the news of endless bliss
Jesus Christ was born for this:
he has opened heaven's door
and we are blessed for evermore!
Christ was born for this;
Christ was born for this!
Good Christians all, rejoice
with heart and soul and voice!
now you need not fear the grave;
Jesus Christ was born to save:
come at his most gracious call
to find salvation, one and all:
Christ was born to save;
Christ was born to save!
Guide me, O thou great redeemer,
pilgrim through this barren land;
I am weak, but thou art mighty,
hold me with thy powerful hand:
Bread of heaven, feed me till I want no more.
Open now the crystal fountain,
whence the healing stream doth flow;
let the fire and cloudy pillar
lead me all my journey through;
strong Deliverer, be thou still my strength and shield.
When I tread the verge of Jordan
bid my anxious fears subside,
death of death, and hell's destruction,
land me safe on Canaan's side;
songs of praises, I will ever give to thee.
Hail Mary, ever blessed
of Walsingham the Queen
through vision of Richeldis
thy favours here were seen.
When England was thy dowry
here pilgrims bow'd the knee,
as morn and noon and even
they knelt to honour thee.
Hail Mary, ever blessed
thy children still delight
to tell abroad thy praises
thy miracles, thy might.
Still pilgrim feet are treading
along the holy way.
Hostess of England's Nazareth,
receive us home today.
Hail Mary, ever blessed
the wells of water pure
which mark thy holy places
are signs that God doth cure.
For sick of soul and body,
e'en since Richeldis' day
they sprang in benediction
beside the Pilgrims' Way.
Hail Mary, every blessed
thy name is great indeed;
for Jesus Christ our Saviour
was in thy womb conceived.
Thy name be ever praised
increasing in this place
and loud the Angel's greeting:
'Hail Mary, full of grace.'
Hail Queen of Heaven, the ocean star
guide of the wanderer here below;
thrown on life's surge, we claim thy care;
save us from peril and from woe.
Mother of Christ, star of the sea,
pray for the wanderer, pray for me.
O gently, chaste and spotless maid,
we sinners make our prayers through thee,
remind thy Son that he has paid
the price of our iniquity.
Virgin most pure, star of the sea,
pray for the sinner, pray for me.
Sojourners in this vale of tears,
to thee, blest advocate, we cry;
pity our sorrows, calm our fears,
and soothe with hope our misery.
Refuge in grief, star of the sea,
pray for the mourner, pray for me.
And while to him who reigns above,
in Godhead One, in Persons Three,
the source of life, of grace, of love,
homage we pay on bended knee,
do thou bright Queen, star of the sea,
pray for thy children, pray for me.
Hail Redeemer, King divine!
Priest and Lamb, the throne is thine;
King, whose reign shall never cease,
Prince of everlasting peace.
Angels, saints and nations sing :
"Praise be Jesus Christ our King;
Lord of life, earth, sky and sea,
King of love on Calvary!"
King most holy, King of truth,
guard the lowly, guide the youth;
Christ the King of glory bright,
be to us eternal light.
Shepherd-king, o'er mountains steep
homeward bring the wandering sheep;
shelter in one royal fold
states and kingdoms, new and old.
Crimson streams, O King of grace,
drenched thy thorn-crowned head and face;
floods of love's redeeming tide
tore thy hands, thy feet, and side.
Eucharistic King, what love
draws thee daily from above,
clad in signs of bread and wine :
feed us, lead us, keep us thine!
King, whose name creation thrills,
rule our hearts, our minds, our wills;
till in peace, each nation rings
with thy praises, King of kings.
Sing with joy in ev'ry home :
"Christ our King, thy kingdom come!
To the King of ages, then,
honour, glory, love : Amen!"
Hail Holy Queen enthroned above, O Maria!
Hail Mother of Mercy and of love, O Maria!
Triumph all ye Cherubim,
Sing with us ye Seraphim,
Heav'n and earth resound the hymn:
Salve, Salve, Salve Regina!
Our life, our sweetness here below,
hope in sorrow and in woe ...
To thee we cry, poor sons of Eve ...
to thee we sigh, we mourn we grieve ...
This earth is but a vale of tears ...
a place of banishment, of fears ...
Turn then, most gracious Advocate ...
tow'rds us thine eyes compassionate ...
When this our exile is complete ...
show us thy Son, our Jesus sweet ...
O clement, gracious, Mother sweet ...
O Virgin Mary, we entreat ...
Hark! the herald angels sing
Glory to the new born King;
peace on earth and mercy mild,
God and sinners reconciled!
Joyful all you nations rise,
join the triumph of the skies;
with the angelic host proclaim,
`Christ is born in Bethlehem'
Hark! the herald angels sing
Glory to the new born King;
Christ, by highest heaven adored,
Christ the everlasting Lord:
late in time behold him come,
offspring of a virgin's womb;
veiled in flesh the Godhead see,
hail the incarnate Deity!
pleased as man with man to dwell,
Jesus our Emmanuel:
Hark! the herald ...
Hail, the heaven-born prince of peace,
hail the Sun of Righteousness;
light and life to all he brings,
risen with healing in his wings:
mild, he lays his glory by,
born that we no more may die;
born to raise us from the earth,
born to give us second birth:
He is Lord, He is Lord.
He is risen from the dead and He is Lord.
Every knee shall bow, every tongue confess
that Jesus Christ is Lord.
HOLY VIRGIN BY GOD'S DECREE
you were called eternally;
that he could give his Son to our race.
Mary, we praise you, hail full of grace.
Ave, ave, ave Maria
By your faith and loving accord,
as the handmaid of the Lord,
you undertook God's plan to embrace.
Mary, we thank you, hail full of grace.
Ave, ave, ave Maria
Joy to God you gave and expressed,
of all women none more blessed,
when in mankind your Son took his place.
Mary, we love you, hail full of grace.
Ave, ave, ave Maria.
Refuge for your children so weak,
sure protection all can seek.
Problems of life you help us to face.
Mary, we trust you, hail full of grace.
Ave, ave, ave Maria
To our needy world of today
love and beauty you portray,
showing the path to Christ we must trace.
Mary, our mother, hail full of grace.
Ave, ave, ave Maria
Holy holy holy, Lord God almighty
Heaven and earth are filled with voices singing to your praise.
In the heights `Hosanna' echoes to your glory.
Blessed is he who comes forth in your name!
O Lord, my God, when I in awesome wonder,
consider all the works thy hand has made,
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
thy pow'r throughout the universe displayed.
Then sings my soul,
my Saviour God, to thee:
How great thou art,
how great thou art. (twice)
And when I think that God, his Son not sparing,
sent him to die, I scare can take it in
that on the cross, my burden gladly bearing,
he bled and died to take away my sin.
Then sings my soul ...
When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation
and take me home, what joy shall fill my heart;
when I shall bow in humble adoration,
and there proclaim: my God, how great thou art.
Then sings my soul ...
How lovely on the mountains are the feet of him
who brings good news, good news,
announcing peace, proclaiming news of happiness:
Our God reigns ...
You watchmen, lift your voices joyfully as one,
shout for your king, your king!
See eye to eye, the Lord restoring Zion:
Our God reigns ...
Wasteplaces of Jerusalem, break forth with joy!
We are redeemed, redeemed!
the Lord has saved and comforted his people.
Our God reigns ...
Ends of the earth, see the salvation of our God!
Jesus is Lord, is Lord!
Before the nations, he has bared his holy arm.
Our God reigns ...
How sweet the name of Jesus sounds
In a believer's ear!
It soothes his sorrows, heals his wounds,
and drives away his fear.
It makes the wounded spirit whole,
it calms the troubled breast;
'tis manna to the hungry soul,
and to the weary rest.
Dear name! the rock on which I build,
my shield and hiding-place,
my never failing treasury filled
with boundless stores of grace.
Jesus! my shepherd, brother, friend,
my prophet, priest, and king,
my Lord, my life, my way, my end,
accept the praise I bring.
Weak is the effort of my heart,
and cold my warmest thought;
but when I see thee as thou art,
I'll praise thee as I ought.
Till then I would thy love proclaim,
with every fleeting breath;
and may the music of thy name
refresh my soul in death.
I just want to praise you, lift my hands and say I love you.
You are everything to me and I exalt your holy name on high.
I just want to praise you, lift my hands and say I love you.
You are every thing to me and I exalt your holy name,
I exalt your holy name, I exalt your holy name on high.
I WATCH THE SUNRISE lighting the sky,
casting its shadows near.
And on this morning, bright though it be,
I feel those shadows near me.
But you are always close to me
following all my ways.
May I be always close to you
following all your ways, Lord.
I watch the sunlight shine through the clouds,
warming the earth below.
And at the midday life seems to say:
"I feel your brightness near me."
For you are always ...
I watch the sunset fading away,
lighting the clouds with sleep.
And as the evening closes its eyes
I feel your presence near me.
For you are always ...
I watch the moonlight guarding the night,
waiting till morning comes.
The air is silent, earth is at rest -
only your peace is near me.
Yes you are always ...
It is a thing most wonderful,
almost too wonderful to be,
that God's own Son should come from heaven,
and die to save a child like me.
And yet I know that it is true:
He chose a poor and humble lot,
and wept, and toiled and mourned and died
for love of those who loved him not.
But even could I see him die,
I could but see a little part
of that great love, which, like a fire,
is always burning in his heart.
I(t is most wonderful to know
his love for me so free and sure;
but 'tis more wonderful to see
my love for him so faint and poor.
And yet I want to love thee, Lord;
O light the flame within my heart,
and I will love thee more and more,
until I see thee as thou art.
And did those feet in ancient time
walk upon England's mountains green?
And was the holy lamb of God
on England's pleasant pastures seen?
And did the countenance divine
shine forth upon our clouded hills?
And was Jerusalem, builded here
among those dark Satanic mills?
Bring me my bow of burning gold!
Bring me my arrows of desire!
Bring me my spear! O clouds, unfold!
Bring me my chariot of fire!
I will not cease from mental fight,
nor shall my sword sleep in my hand,
till we have built Jerusalem
in England's green and pleasant land!
Jerusalem the Golden, with milk and honey blest
beneath thy contemplation sink heart and voice oppressed.
I know not, ah, I know not what joys await us there,
what radiancy of glory, what bliss beyond compare.
They stand, those halls of Sion, all jubilant with song,
and bright with many an angel, and all the martyr throng;
the prince is ever in them, the daylight is serene;
the pastures of the blessed are decked in glorious sheen.
There is the throne of David; and there, from care released,
the shout of them that triumph, the song of them that feast;
and they, who with their leader have conquered in the fight,
for ever and for ever are clad in robes of white.
O sweet and blessed country, the home of God's elect!
O sweet and blessed country that eager hearts expect!
Jesus, in mercy brings us to that dear land of rest;
who art, with God the Father and Spirit ever blest.
Jesus bids us shine with a pure, clear light
Like a little candle, shining in the night.
In this world of darkness, so let us shine,
You in your small corner, and I in mine.
Jesus bids us shine, first of all for him;
Well he sees and knows it, if our life grows dim.
He looks down from heaven to see us shine,
you in your small corner, and I in mine.
Jesus bids us shine, then, for all around;
many kinds of darkness in the world are found -
sin and want and sorrow; so we must shine,
you in your small corner, and I in mine.
Jesus, in thy dear Sacrament,
thy cross I cannot see,
but the crucified is offer'd there,
and he was slain for me.
Jesus, in thy dear Sacrament,
thy flesh I cannot see,
but that flesh is given to be our food,
and it was scourged for me.
Jesus, in thy dear Sacrament,
thy blood I cannot see,
but the chalice glows with those red drops,
on Calv'ry shed for me.
Jesus, in thy dear Sacrament,
thy face I cannot see,
but the angels there behold the brow
thorn-crown'd for love of me.
Jesus, my Maker and my God,
thy Godhead none may see,
but thou are present, God and Man,
in thy sacrament with me.
Jesus is Lord! creation's voice proclaims it,
for by his power each tree and flower
was planned and made.
Jesus is Lord! the universe declares it -
sun moon and stars in heaven cry:
Jesus is Lord!
Jesus is Lord! Jesus is Lord!
Praise him with alleluias,
for Jesus is Lord!
Jesus is Lord! yet from his throne eternal
in flesh he came to die in pain
on Calvary's tree.
Jesus is Lord! from him all life proceeding -
yet gave his life a ransom
thus setting us free.
Jesus is Lord! ...
Jesus is Lord! o'er sin the mighty conqueror;
from death he rose and all his foes
shall own his name.
Jesus is Lord! God sends his Holy Spirit
to show by works of power
that Jesus is Lord.
Jesus is Lord! ...
Jesus lives, thy terrors now
can, O death, no more appal us;
Jesus lives! by this we know
thou, O grave, canst not enthral us. Alleluia!
Jesus lives! henceforth is death
but the gate of life immortal;
this shall calm our trembling breath
when we pass its gloomy portal. Alleluia!
Jesus lives! for us he died;
then, alone to Jesus living,
pure in heart may we abide
glory to our Saviour giving. Alleluia!
Jesus lives! our hearts know well
nought from us his love shall sever;
life, nor death, nor powers of hell
tear us from his keeping ever. Alleluia!
Jesus lives! to him the throne
over all the world is given;
may we go where he is gone
rest and reign with him in heaven. Alleluia!
Jesus shall reign, where'er the sun
does his successive journeys run;
his kingdom stretch from shore to shore,
till moons shall wax and wane no more.
People and realms of every tongue
dwell on his love with sweetest son,
and infant voices shall proclaim
their early blessings on his name.
Blessings abound where'er he reigns
the prisoner leaps to lose his chains;
the weary find eternal rest,
and all the sons of want are blest.
Let every creature rise and bring
peculiar honours to our King;
angels descend with songs again,
and earth repeat the long Amen.
Jesus remember me,
when you come into your kingdom.
Jesus remember me,
when you come into your kingdom.
Jubilate Deo, omnis terra.
Servite Domino in laetitia.
Alleluia, alleluia, in laetitia. (twice)
Come rejoice in God, praise him all the earth.
Serve your God, serve your God, gladly serve your God.
Alleluia, alleluia, gladly serve your God! (twice)
Jubilate Deo...
Just as I am, without one plea
But that thy blood was shed for me
and that thou bidd'st me come to thee,
O Lamb of God, I come.
Just as I am, though tossed about
with many a conflict, many a doubt,
fightings within, and fears without,
Just as I am, poor, wretched, blind;
Sight, riches, healing of the mind,
Yea all I need, in thee to find,
Just as I am, thou wilt receive,
wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve:
Because thy promise I believe,
Just as I am, (thy love unknown
has broken every barrier down),
now to be thine, yea thine alone,
Just as I am, of that free love
the breadth, length, depth and height to prove,
here for a season then above,
O Lamb of God, I come.
Keep we the fast that men of old
learned from on high in mystic ways,
till yonder sun hath duly told
his hallowed tale of forty days.
This covenant, long since revealed
to patriarchs and ardent seers,
Christ by his own example sealed,
author of time, and Lord of years.
More wisely therefore let us walk,
sparing of food and wine and sleep;
over our trifles and our talk
more jealous be the watch we keep.
Still by our sins, O Lord, we grieve
thy love, so full of pardon free:
author of mercy, still reprieve
the souls that turn again to thee.
Remember whence our fashion came,
frail creatures, yet thy creatures still,
crush, for the glory of thy name,
the murm'rings of our stubborn will.
The guilt that dooms us put away,
with larger grace our prayers requite;
at last, and ever from this day,
teach us to live as in thy sight.
Hear us, O Trinity sublime,
and undivided Unity;
so let this consecrated time
bring forth thy fruits abundantly.
Lord have mercy on your people
Lord have mercy on us all.
Christ have mercy and forgive us
Hear your people when they call.
Lord, have mercy
Save and heal us from our sins.
Laudate Dominum, Laudate Dominum
omnes gentes, alleluia!
Laudate Dominum, Laudate Dominum
omnes gentes, alleluia!
Let me but feel the marks of Jesus' Passion,
let me but see where nails and spear have passed.
Let it be proved if even God's compassion
can break death's mould and our old life recast.
Stretch forth your hand and put your doubts behind you
I am your Lord, your Master and your God,
but, as a brother dear, I came to find you
and for your sake the way of pain I trod.
My Lord, my God, my saviour, friend and brother
I do believe because I know your grace.
Happy are they who love you and no other
though they have never seen you face to face.
Let there be peace on earth
and let it begin with me
Let there be peace on earth,
the peace that was meant to be.
With God as our Father,
brothers all are we.
Let me walk with my brother
in perfect harmony
Let peace begin with me,
let this be the moment now.
With ev'ry step I take,
let this be my solemn vow:
to take each moment
and live each moment
in peace eternally.
Let there be peace on earth
and let it begin with me.
Let us break bread together with the Lord;
let us break bread together with the Lord:
when I fall on my knees
with my face to the rising sun,
O Lord, have mercy on me.
Let us drink wine together with the Lord;
let us drink wine together with the Lord:
when I fall on my knees
with my face to the rising sun,
O Lord, have mercy on me.
Let us praise God together in the Lord;
Let us praise God together in the Lord:
when I fall on my knees
with my face to the rising sun,
O Lord, have mercy on me.
Light of great gladness
Light of the Father
living for ever
dwelling in heaven:
Jesus, we praise
Christ, we acclaim you
O Lord, we name you:
Holy and Blest!
Now it is evening
sun's light is fading
dusk dimly round us
heralds the night.
O God we praise you
Father, Son, Spirit
Trinity blessed,
glorious light.
Lord Christ, life-giver,
worthy of worship
we sing your praises,
Saviour and Friend!
All the world hymns you
honours, adores you
now and for ever
world without end.
Lo! he comes with clouds descending
Once for favoured sinners slain;
Thousand thousand saints attending
swell the triumph of his train:
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
God appears, on earth to reign.
Every eye shall now behold him
robed in dreadful majesty;
those who set at nought and sold him
pierced and nailed him to the tree,
deeply wailing,
shall the true Messiah see.
Those dear tokens of his passion
still his dazzling body bears
cause of endless exultation
to his ransomed worshippers:
with what rapture
gaze we on those glorious scars!
Yea, amen! Let all adore thee
high on thine eternal throne.
Saviour, take the power and glory:
Claim the kingdom for thine own:
O come quickly!
Alleluia! Come, Lord, come!
Lord Jesus, think on me
and purge away my sin;
from earthborn passions set me free,
and make me pure within.
Lord Jesus, think on me,
with care and woe opprest;
Let me thy loving servant be,
and taste thy promised rest.
Lord Jesus, think on me,
amid the battle's strife;
in all my pain and misery
be thou my health and life.
Lord Jesus, think on me,
nor let me go astray;
through darkness and perplexity
point thou the heavenly way.
Lord Jesus, think on me,
when flows the tempest high:
when on doth rush the enemy
O Saviour, be thou nigh.
Lord Jesus, think on me,
that, when the flood is past,
I may the eternal brightness see,
and share my joy at last.
Lord the light of your love is shining,
in the midst of the darkness shining.
Jesus light of the world shine upon us,
set us free by the truth you may bring us.
Shine on me - shine on me.
Shine Jesus shine,
fill this land with the Fathers glory,
blaze Spirit blaze, set our hearts on fire.
Flow river flow,
flood the nations with grace and mercy,
send forth your word Lord
and let there be light.
Lord I come to your awesome presence,
from the shadow into your radiance.
By your blood may I enter your brightness,
search me try me consume all my darkness.
Shine on me - shine on me.
Shine, Jesus shine
As we gaze on your kingly brightness,
so our faces display your likeness,
ever changing from glory to glory,
mirrored here may our lives tell your story.
Shine on me - shine on me.
Shine, Jesus shine
Lord, who throughout these forty days
for us didst fast and pray,
teach us with thee to mourn our sins,
and at thy side to stay.
As thou with Satan didst contend,
and didst the victory win,
O give us strength in thee to fight,
in thee to conquer sin.
As thirst and hunger thou didst bear,
so teach , gracious Lord,
to die to self, and daily live
by thy most holy word.
And through these days of penitence,
and through thy Passiontide
year, evermore, in life and death,
Lord Christ, with us abide.
LOVE IS HIS WORD, love is his way,
feasting with men, fasting alone,
living and dying, rising again,
love, only love, is his way.
Richer than gold is the love of my Lord.
better than splendour and wealth.
Love is his way, love is his mark,
sharing his last Passover feast,
Christ at his table, host to the Twelve,
love, only love, is his mark.
Richer than gold ...
Love is his mark, love is his sign,
bread for our strength, wine for our joy,
"This is my body, this is my blood,"
love, only love is his sign.
Richer than gold ...
Love is his sign, love is his news,
"Do this," he said, "lest you forget
all my deep sorrow, all my dear blood",
love, only love, is his news.
Richer than gold ...
Love is his news, love is his name,
we are his own, chosen and called,
family, brethren, cousins and kin.
Love, only love, is his name.
Richer than gold ...
Love is his name, love is his law.
Hear his command, all who are his:
"Love one another, as I have loved you".
Love, only love, is his law.
Richer than gold ...
Love is his law, love is his word:
love of the Lord, Father and Word,
love of the Spirit, God ever one,
love, only love, is his word.
Richer than gold ...
Love's redeeming work is done;
fought the fight, the battle won:
Lo, our Sun's eclipse is o'er!
Lo, he sets in blood no more!
Vain the stone, the watch, the seal,
Christ has burst the gates of hell;
Death in vain forbids his rise;
Christ has opened paradise.
Lives again our glorious King;
where, O Death, is now thy sting?
Dying once, he all doth save;
where thy victory, O grave?
Soar we now where Christ has led,
following our exalted head;
Made like him, like him we rise;
ours the cross, the grave, the skies.
Hail the Lord of earth and heaven!
Praise to thee by both be given:
thee we greet triumphant now;
Hail the resurrection thou!
Majesty, worship his majesty;
unto Jesus be glory honour and praise.
Majesty, kingdom authority,
flows from his throne unto his own,
His anthem raise.
So exalt, lift up on high,
the name of Jesus.
Magnify, come glorify,
Christ Jesus the King.
Majesty, worship his majesty;
Jesus who died, now glorified,
King of all kings.
MAKE ME A CHANNEL OF YOUR PEACE
Where there is hatred let me bring you love.
Where there is injury your pardon, lord.
And where there's doubt true faith in you.
O Master grant that I may never seek
so much to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved, as to love, with all my soul.
Make me a channel of your peace.
Where there's despair in life, let me bring hope.
Where there is darkness only light,
and where there's sadness ever joy.
O Master grant that I may never seek
so much to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved, as to love, with all my soul.
Make me a channel of your peace.
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
in giving to all men that we receive,
and in dying that we're born to eternal life.
Make way, make way for Christ the king
in splendour arrives;
fling wide the gates and welcome him
into your lives.
Make way! (make way!) Make way! (make way!)
for the King of kings! (for the king of kings!)
Make way! (make way!) Make way! (make way!)
and let his kingdom in!
He comes the broken hearts to heal
the prisoners to free;
the deaf shall hear the lame shall dance
the blind shall see.
Make way!...
And those who mourn with heavy hearts,
who weep and sigh,
with laughter joy and royal crown
he'll beautify.
Make way!...
We call you now to worship him
as Lord of all,
to have no gods before him
their thrones must fall!
Make way!...
My God, I love thee, not because
I hope for heaven thereby;
nor yet that those who loved thee not
are lost eternally.
Thou, O my Jesus, thou didst me
upon the cross embrace;
for me didst bear the nails and spear
and manifold disgrace.
And griefs and torments numberless
and sweat of agony;
e'en death itself - and all for one
who was thine enemy.
Then why, O Blessed Jesu Christ,
should I not love thee well;
not for the sake of sinning heaven,
or of escaping hell;
Not with the hope of gaining aught;
not seeking a reward,
but, as thyself hast lovèd me,
O ever-loving Lord?
E'en so I love thee, and will love,
and in thy praise will sing
solely because thou art my God
and my eternal king.
My song is love unknown,
my Saviour's love to me,
love to the loveless shown
that they might lovely be.
O who am I, that for my sake
My Lord should take frail flesh and die?
He came from his blest throne,
salvation to bestow:
but men made strange, and none
the longed-for Christ would know.
But O, my friend, my friend indeed
who at my need his life did spend!
Sometimes they strew his way,
and his sweet praises sing;
Resounding all the day
Hosannas to their King.
Then 'Crucify' is all their breath,
and for his death they thirst and cry.
Why, what hath my Lord done?
What makes this rage and spite?
He made the lame to run,
he gave the blind their sight.
Sweet injuries! yet they at these
themselves displease and 'gainst him rise.
They rise, and needs will have
my dear Lord made away;
a murderer they save,
the Prince of Life they slay.
Yet cheerful he to suffering goes,
that he his foes from thence might flee.
In life no house, no home,
my Lord on earth might have;
in death no friendly tomb,
but what a stranger gave.
What may I say? Heav'n was his home;
but mine the tomb wherein he lay.
Here might I stay and sing,
no story so divine;
never was love, dear King,
never was grief like thine!
This is my Friend, in whose sweet praise
I all my days could gladly spend
My soul is filled with joy
as I sing to God my Saviour:
he has looked upon his servant,
he has visited his people.
And holy is his name
through all generations!
Everlasting is his mercy
to the people he has chosen,
and holy is his name!
I am lowly as a child,
but I know from this day forward
that my name will be remembered,
for all men will call me blessed.
And holy is his name...
I proclaim the pow'r of God!
He does marvels for his servants;
though he scatters the proud-hearted
and destroys the might of princes.
And holy is his name...
To the hungry he gives food,
sends the rich away empty.
In his mercy he is mindful
of the people he has chosen.
And holy is his name...
In his love he now fulfils
what he promised to our fathers.
I will praise the Lord, my saviour.
Everlasting is his mercy.
And holy is his name...
O bread of heaven, beneath this veil
thou dost my very God conceal;
my Jesus, dearest treasure, hail;
I love thee and adoring kneel;
each loving soul by thee is fed
with thine own self in form of bread.
O food of life, thou who dost give
the pledge of immortality;
I live; no, 'tis not I that live;
God gives me life, god lives in me:
he feeds my soul, he guides my ways,
and every grief with joy repays.
O bond of love, that dost unite
the servant to his living Lord;
could I dare live, and not requite
such love - then death were meet reward:
I cannot live unless to prove
some love for such unmeasured love.
Beloved Lord in heaven above,
there Jesus, thou awaitest me;
to gaze on thee with changeless love,
yes, thus I hope, thus shall it be:
for how can he deny me heaven
who here on earth himself hath given?
O Come all ye faithful,
joyful and triumphant
O come ye, O come ye to Bethlehem;
Come and behold him, born the king of angels
O come, let us adore him!
O come, let us adore him!
O come, let us adore him, Christ the Lord!
God from God,
Light from light -
lo, he abhors not the virgin's womb!
Very God, begotten not created.
O come ...
Sing, choirs of angels,
sing in exultation!
Sing all ye citizens of heaven above,
'Glory to God in the highest!'
O come ...
Yea, Lord we greet thee,
born this happy morning.
Jesu, to thee be glory give.
Word of the Father, now in flesh appearing.
O come ...
O come, O come Emmanuel,
and ransom captive Israel,
that mourns in lonely exile here
until the Son of God appear:
Rejoice, rejoice, Emmanuel
shall come to thee, O Israel.
O come, thou Rod of Jesse, free
thine own from Satan's tyranny;
from depths of hell thy people save,
and give them victory o'er the brave
Rejoice, rejoice ...
O come, thou dayspring, come and cheer
our spirits by thine advent here;
disperse the gloomy clouds of night,
and death dark shadows put to flight:
Rejoice, rejoice ...
O come, thou key of David, come
and open wide our heavenly home;
make safe the way that leads on high,
and close the path to misery:
Rejoice, rejoice ...
O come, O come, thou Lord of might,
who to thy tribes on Sinai's height
in ancient times didst give the Law
in cloud and majesty and awe:
Rejoice, rejoice ...
O dearest Lord, thy sacred head
With thorns was crowned for me,
O pour thy blessing on my head
that I might think for thee.
O dearest Lord, thy sacred hands
with nails were pierced for me,
O shed thy blessing on my hands
That they may work for thee.
O dearest Lord, thy sacred feet
with nails were pierced for me
O pour thy blessing on my feet,
that they may follow thee.
O dearest Lord, thy sacred heart,
with spear was pierced for me,
O pour thy blessing on my heart
That I may live for thee.
O for a heart to praise my God,
a heart from sin set free;
a heart that always feels thy blood
so freely spilt for me:
A heart resigned, submissive meek,
my dear Redeemer's throne;
where only Christ is heard to speak,
where Jesus reigns alone:
A humble, lowly, contrite heart,
believing, true and clean,
which neither life nor death can part
from him that dwells within:
A heart in every thought renewed,
and full of love divine;
perfect, and right, and pure, and good,
a copy, Lord, of thine.
My heart, thou know'st, can never rest
till thou create my peace;
till of mine Eden repossest
from self, and sin, I cease.
Thy nature, gracious Lord, impart,
Come quickly from above;
Write thy new name upon my heart,
thy new best name of love
O God our help in ages past,
our hope of things to come,
our shelter from the stormy blast,
and our eternal home;
Under the shadow of thy throne
thy saints have dwelt secure;
sufficient is thine arm alone,
and our defence is sure.
Before the hills in order stood
or earth received her frame,
from everlasting thou art God
to endless years the same.
A thousand ages in thy sight
are like an evening gone,
short as the watch that ends the night
before the rising sun.
Time, like an ever-flowing stream
bears all its sons away;
They fly forgotten, as a dream
dies at the opening day.
O God our help in ages past,
our hope of things to come,
our shelter from the stormy blast,
and our eternal home;
O Jesus Christ, remember, when thou shalt come again
upon the clouds of heaven with all thy shining train;
when every eye shall see thee in deity revealed,
who now upon this altar in silence art concealed.
Remember then, O Saviour, I supplicate of thee
that here I bowed before thee upon my bended knee;
that here I owned my presence and did not thee deny
and glorified thy greatness though hid from human eye.
Accept, divine Redeemer, the homage of my praise;
be thou the light and honour and glory of my days.
Be thou my consolation when death is drawing nigh;
be thou my only treasure through all eternity.
O Jesus, I have promised to serve thee to the end
be thou for ever near me, my Master and my friend:
I shall not fear the battle if thou art by my side,
nor wander from the pathway if thou wilt be my guide.
O let me feel thee near me: the world is ever near;
I see the sights that dazzle, the tempting sounds I hear;
my foes are ever near me, around me and within;
but, Jesus, draw thou nearer, and shield my soul from sin.
O let me hear thee speaking in accents clear and still,
above the storms of passion, the murmurs of self-will;
O speak to reassure me, to hasten or control;
O speak and make me listen, thou guardian of my soul.
O Jesus, I have promised to all who follow thee,
that where thou art in glory there shall thy servant be;
and, Jesus, I have promised to serve thee to the end:
O give me grace to follow, my Master and my Friend.
O let me see thy foot-marks, and in them plant mine own;
my hope to follow duly is in thy strength alone:
O guide me, call me, draw me, uphold me to the end;
and then in heaven receive me, my Saviour and my Friend.
O Lord, hear my prayer.
O Lord, hear my prayer.
When I call answer me.
O Lord, hear my prayer,
O Lord, hear my prayer,
come and listen to me.
O Lord, to whom the spirits live
of all the faithful pass'd away
unto their path that brightness give
which shineth to the perfect day.
O Lamb of God, Redeemer blest,
Grant them eternal light and rest
Bless thou the dead which die in thee;
as thou hast given them release
so quicken them thy face to see
and give them everlasting peace
O Lamb of God ...
In thy green pleasant pastures feed
the sheep which thou hast summon'd hence;
and by the still cool waters lead
thy flock in loving providence.
O Lamb of God ...
How long, O holy Lord, how long
must we and they expectant wait
to hear the gladsome bridal song
to see thee in thy royal state?
O Lamb of God ...
O hearken, Saviour, to their cry
O rend the heavens and come down.
Make up thy jewels speedily
and set them in thy golden crown.
O Lamb of God ...
Direct us with thine arm of might
and bring us, perfected with them
to dwell within thy city bright
the heavenly Jerusalem.
O Lamb of God ...
O PERFECT LOVE, all human thought transcending,
lowly we kneel in prayer before thy throne.
That theirs may be the love which knows no ending
whom thou for evermore dost join in one.
O perfect life, be thou their full assurance
of tender charity and steadfast faith
of patient hope, and quiet brave endurance,
with childlike trust that fears nor pain nor death.
Grant them the joy which brightens early sorrow,
grant them the peace which calms all earthly strife;
and to life day the glorious unknown morrow
that dawns upon eternal love and life.
O sacred head, sore wounded,
defiled and put to scorn;
O kingly head, surrounded
with mocking crown of thorn:
what sorrow mars thy grandeur?
can death thy bloom deflower?
O countenance whose splendour
the hosts of heaven adore.
Thy beauty long desirèd,
hath vanished from our sight;
thy power is all expirèd,
and quenched the light of light.
Ah me! for whom thou diest,
hide not so far thy grace:
Show me, O Love most highest,
the brightness of thy face.
I pray thee, Jesus, own me,
me Shepherd, good, for thine;
who to thy fold hast won me,
and fed with truth divine.
Me guilty, me refuse not,
incline thy face to me,
this comfort that I lose not,
on earth to comfort thee.
In thy most bitter passion
my heart to share doth cry,
with thee for my salvation
upon the cross to die.
Ah, keep my hearts thus movèd
to stand thy Cross beneath,
to mourn thee, well belovèd,
Yet thank thee for thy death.
My days are few, O fail not,
with thine immortal power,
to hold me that I quail not
in death's most fearful hour:
that I may fight befriended,
and see in my last strife
to me thine arms extended
upon the Cross of life.
O saving Victim, opening wide
the gate of heaven to man below,
our foes press hard on every side:
thine aid supply; thy strength bestow.
All praise and thanks to thee ascend
for evermore blessed one in three;
O grant us life that shall not end
in our true native land with thee. Amen.
O thou, who at thy eucharist didst pray
that all thy Church might be for ever one,
grant us at every Eucharist to say
with longing heart and soul, 'Thy will be done.'
Oh, may we all one Bread, one Body be,
One through this Sacrament of unity.
For all thy Church, O Lord, we intercede;
make thou our sad divisions soon to cease;
draw us the nearer each to each, we plead,
by drawing all to thee, O Prince of Peace:
Thus may we all one Bread, one Body be,
One through this Sacrament of unity.
We pray thee too for wanderers from thy fold;
O bring them back, good shepherd of the sheep,
back to the faith which saints believed of old,
back to the Church which still that faith doth keep:
Soon may we all one Bread, one Body be,
one through this Sacrament of unity.
So, Lord, at length when sacraments shall cease,
may we be one with all thy Church above,
one with thy saints in one unbroken peace,
one with thy saints in one unbounded love:
more blessed still, in peace and love to be
one with the Trinity in Unity.
O thou who camest from above
the pure celestial fire to impart,
kindle a flame of sacred love
on the mean altar of my heart.
There let it for thy glory burn
with inextinguishable blaze,
and trembling to its source return
in humble prayer, and fervent praise.
Jesus, confirm my heart's desire
to work, and speak, and think for thee;
still let me guard the holy fire,
and still stir up thy gift in me.
Ready for all thy perfect will,
my acts of faith and love repeat,
till death thy endless mercies seal,
and make my sacrifice complete.
O worship the king, all glorious above;
O gratefully sing his power and his love:
our shield and defender, the ancient of days,
pavilioned in splendour and girded with praise.
O tell of his might, O sing of his grace,
whose robe is the light, whose canopy space.
His chariots of wrath the deep thunder clouds form,
and dark is his path on the wings of the storm.
This earth, with its store of wonders untold,
almighty, thy power hath founded of old;
hath stablished it fast by a changeless decree,
and round it hath cast, like a mantle the sea.
Thy bountiful care what tongue can recite?
It breathes in the air, it shines in the light;
it streams from the hills, it descends to the plain,
and sweetly distils in the due and the rain.
O measureless might, ineffable love,
while angels delight to hymn thee above,
thy humbler creation thought feeble their lays,
with true adoration shall sing to thy praise.
Oh God, most high, almighty King, the champion of heaven Lord of everything; You've
fought, You've won, deaths lost it's sting, and standing in your victory sing.
Chorus
You have broken the chains that held our captive souls. You have broken the chains and
used then on your foes. All your enemies are bound, they tremble at the sound of your
name; Jesus, you have broken the chains.
(Last time - Jesus You have broken the chains, you have broken the chains.)
The pow'r of hell has been undone, captivity held captive by the Risen One, and in the
name of God's great Son, we claim the mighty victory you've won.
On a night when the world
in its sin and sorrow lay ...
1 ... the saviour Jesus was born!
2 ... close in a stall ...
3 ... in Bethlehem ...
4 ... on Christmas Day ...
5 ... 'Peace on the earth' ...
6 ... angels were singing ...
7 ... heavens were blazing ...
8 ... shepherds were watching ...
9 ... sheep were reclining ...
10 ... people were sleeping ...
11 ... bright skies were shining ...
12 ... wise men were riding ...
On Jordan's bank the Baptist's cry
announces that the Lord is nigh,
come then and hearken, for he brings
glad tidings from the King of kings.
Then cleansed be every Christian breast,
and furnished for so great a guest!
Yea, let us each our hearts prepare
for Christ to come and enter there.
For thou art our salvation, Lord,
our refuge and our great reward;
without thy grace our souls must face,
and wither like a flower decayed.
Stretch forth thy hand, to heal our sore,
and make us rise, to fall no more;
once more upon thy people shine,
and fill the world with love divine.
All praise, eternal Son, to thee
whose advent sets thy people free,
whom, with the Father, we adore,
and Holy Ghost, for evermore.
Once in royal David's city
stood a lowly cattle shed,
where a mother laid her baby
in a manger for his bed:
Mary was that mother mild,
Jesus Christ her little child.
He came down to earth from heaven
who is God and Lord of all;
and his shelter was a stable
and his cradle was a stall:
with the poor and meek and lowly
lived on earth our saviour holy.
And our eyes at last shall see him,
through his own redeeming love;
for that child, so dear and gentle,
is our Lord in heaven above:
and he leads his children on
to the place where he is gone.
Not in that poor lowly stable
with the oxen standing by,
we shall see him, but in heaven,
set at God's right hand on high:
there his children gather round
bright like stars, with glory crowned.
One bread one body, one Lord of all, one cup of blessing which we bless
And we though many throughout the earth, we are one body in this one Lord.
a. Gentile or Jew, servant or free, woman or man no more.
b. Many the gifts, many the works, one in the lord of all.
c. Grain for the fields, scattered and grown, gathered to one for all.
Out of the depths I cry: O God remember me!
What earthly help have I if you watch silently?
If you watch silently and mark things done amiss,
to whom then may I fly at such a time as this?
At such a time as this my soul waits for the Lord;
no joy is there, no bliss without his saving word.
Without his saving word, all hope for ever dies:
speak now, most mighty Lord, and from the depths I rise!
Peace, perfect peace, is the gift of Christ our Lord.
Peace, perfect peace, is the gift of Christ our Lord.
Thus says the Lord, may the world know my friends.
Peace, perfect peace, is the gift of Christ our Lord.
Love, perfect love ...
Faith, perfect faith ...
Hope, perfect hope ...
Joy, perfect joy ...
Laudate Dominum, Laudate Dominum
Omnes gentes alleluia. (Repeat)
Praise to the Holiest in the Height
and in the depth be praise
in all his words most wonderful;
most sure in all his ways.
O loving wisdom of our God!
when all was sin and shame,
a second Adam to the fight
and to the rescue came.
O wisest love! that flesh and blood
which did in Adam fail,
should strive afresh against the foe,
should strive and should prevail;
And that a higher gift than grace
would flesh and blood refine
God's presence and his very self,
and essence all divine.
O generous love! that he who smote
in man for man the foe,
the double agony in man
for man should undergo.
And in the garden secretly
and on the cross on high
should teach his brethren and inspire
to suffer and to die.
Rejoice! Rejoice! Christ is in you,
the hope of glory in our hearts.
He lives, he lives, his breath is in you,
arise a mighty army we arise.
a. Now is the time for us to march upon the land,
into our hands He will give the ground we claim.
He rides in majesty to lead us into victory,
the world shall see that Christ is Lord.
Rejoice
God is at work in us his purpose to perform,
building a Kingdom of power not of words,
where things impossible by faith shall be made possible;
let's give the glory to Him now.
Rejoice
Though we are weak his grace is every thing we need;
we're made of clay but this treasure is within.
He turns our weaknesses into his opportunities,
so that the glory goes to Him.
Rejoice
Rejoice! the Lord is King!
Your Lord and king adore;
mortals, give thanks and sing,
and triumph evermore:
Lift up your heart,
lift up your voice;
rejoice, again I say rejoice.
Jesus the Saviour reigns,
the God of truth and love;
when he had purged our stains,
he took his seat above;
His kingdom cannot fail;
he rules o'er earth and heaven;
the keys of death and hell
are to our Jesus given:
He sits at God's right hand
till all his foes submit,
and bow to his command,
and fall beneath his feet:
that God made the round world with purpose divine.
The power of love is always the same:
Be glad, give thanks, rejoice in God's name!
Red ribbon, you tell of the bloodshed and pain
which led to forgiveness when Jesus was slain,
The power of love is always the same:
Be glad, give thanks, rejoice in God's name!
Ripe fruits, freely given, this truth you recall,
When God hands our presents they're meant for us all.
The power of love is always the same:
Be glad, give thanks, rejoice in God's name!
Bright candle, the message you carry is clear,
the true light from God found a home with us here.
The power of love is always the same:
Be glad, give thanks, rejoice in God's name!
Christingle, christingle, shine out in the night
to kindle among us that marvellous light.
The power of love is always the same:
Be glad, give thanks, rejoice in God's name!
Sanctus The Lourdes Sanctus
Sanctus, Sanctus, sanctus Dominus!
Heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Sanctus, Sanctus, sanctus Dominus!
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
Sanctus, Sanctus, sanctus Dominus!
Hosanna! Hosanna! Hosanna! Hosanna!
Hosanna in the highest!
Hosanna! Hosanna! Hosanna! Hosanna!
Hosanna in the highest!
Holy is the Lord God almighty.
Heaven and earth are full of his glory.
Holy is the Lord. Holy is the Lord.
Holy is the name of the Lord!
Blest is he who comes in the Lord's name.
Heaven and earth are full of his glory.
Blessed is the Lord. Blessed is the Lord.
Blessed is the name of the Lord!
We are one body, one body in Christ
and we do not stand alone.
We are one body, one body in Christ
and he came that we might have life
For he tells us:
"When you eat my body
and you drink my blood,
I will live in you
and you will live in my love
"When you eat my body
and you drink my blood,
I will live in you
and you will live in my love."
We are one body ...
For he tells us:
"Can you hear them crying?
Can you feel their pain?
Will you feed my hungry
will you help my lame?
See the unborn baby,
the forgotten one,
they are not forsaken
they are not unloved."
We are one body ...
"I am the way, the truth, the life,
I am the final sacrifice
I am the way, the truth, the life
he who believes in me will have eternal life
I am the way, the truth, the life,
I am the final sacrifice
I am the way, the truth, the life
he who believes in me will have eternal life
"I have come your saviour
that you might have life
through the tears and sorrow
through the toils and strife.
Listen when I call you
for I know your need,
come to me your shepherd
for my flock I feed.
We are one body ...
At the name of Jesus
every knee shall bend.
Jesus is the Lord
and he will come again.
At the name of Jesus
every knee shall bend.
Jesus is the Lord
and he will come again. Yes!
We are one body ...
On the rock of Peter, see my church I build
Come receive my Spirit with my gifts be filled
For you are my body, you're my hands and feet
Speak my word of life to every one you meet
See him lying on a bed of straw
a draughty stable with an open door;
Mary cradling the babe she bore
the prince of glory is his name.
O now carry me to Bethlehem
to see the Lord appear to me
just as poor as was the stable then,
the prince of glory when he came.
Star of silver sweep across the skies,
show where Jesus in the manger lies;
shepherds, swiftly from your stupor rise
to see the saviour of the world!
O now carry me ...
Angels, sing again the song you sang,
bring God's glory to the heart of man;
sing that Bethl'em's little baby can
be salvation to the soul.
O now carry me ...
Mine are riches, from your poverty,
from your innocence, eternity;
mine forgiveness by your death for me,
child of sorrow for my joy.
O now carry me ...
Show mercy to us loving Father,
we have sinned against you
please make us anew.
In your love and your grace you forgive us
Lord, have mercy, Lord have mercy
Look not on our failings, Lord Jesus,
we have sinned against you,
please make us anew.
By your love and your death you redeem us.
Christ have mercy, Christ have mercy.
Come fill our hearts, Holy Spirit.
We have sinned against you,
please make us anew.
Forgive us and heal us and save us.
Lord, have mercy, Lord have mercy.
Silent Night, Holy Night!
all is calm, all is bright
round the virgin and her child:
holy infant so gentle and mild,
sleep in heavenly peace;
sleep in heavenly peace!
Silent Night, Holy Night!
shepherds quail at the sight,
glory streams from heaven afar:
heavenly hosts sing, `Alleluia
Christ the saviour is born;
Christ the saviour is born!
Silent Night, Holy Night!
Son of God, love's pure light:
radiant beams your holy face
with the dawn of saving grace,
Jesus, Lord at your birth;
Jesus, Lord at your birth!
Sing it in the valleys,
shout it from the mountain tops.
Jesus came to save us,
and his saving never stops.
He is King of kings, and new life he brings.
Sing it in the valleys
shout it from the mountain tops (Ohh)
shout it from the mountain tops.
Jesus you are by my side,
you take all my fears,
if I only come to you,
you will heal the pain of years.
You have not deserted me,
though I go astray,
Jesus take me in your arms,
help me walk with you today.
Jesus you are living now,
Jesus I believe.
Jesus take me heart and soul,
yours alone I want to be.
Sing the praises of Mary, our Mother most sweet
whose glorious Assumption we hasten to greet.
Ave, Ave, Ave Maria.
To Mary, exalted as Queen of the skies,
we raise our glad voices, our prayers and our eyes.
In glory she's entered the realm of her Son,
her journey completed, her triumph now won.
Conceived without sin, chosen out from our race
of sin in her heart there was never a trace.
As a child so obedient, loving and true,
she brought joy and gladness to all that she knew.
Her mother, Saint Anne, was amazed by the grace
which shone out so brightly
from Mary's sweet face.
When grown up to womanhood she was betrothed
to Joseph, a man whom humility clothed.
One day as she sat in her room rapt in prayer
an angel of God came and stood by her there.
He said "O most favoured one, tidings I bring
that you shall be Mother of Jesus, the King".
Said Mary, "I know not how this thing shall be,
but with my Lord's will I must ever agree".
She travelled the hills to Elizabeth's home,
who cried out with joy that blest Mary had come.
The yet-unborn Baptist showed joy there as well
to welcome the Saviour whom he would foretell.
At last the time came
when the Child should be born
in Bethlehem's City, that thrice-blessed morn.
When Mary most happy, both Mother and Maid,
brought forth God's own Son
and in manger God laid.
To the Temple she took him her offerings to make
where the prophet foretold
he would shine for our sake.
The Light of the world, held on Mary's sweet arm:
she gently protected her God from all harm.
She pondered within her the wonderful things
which marked out her Son
as the true King of kings.
At Cana the faith of the Mother procured
the first of the miracles worked by her Lord.
Then came the black day when with tear-laden eye
she stood at the Cross
and she watched her Son die.
Her heart was quite broken until it was known
that Jesus was risen, and death overthrown.
In this Resurrection the Mother has part;
assumed are her body, her soul and her heart.
Assumed into heaven, placed next to her Son,
to reign there in glory, the Crown of life won.
She prays for us sinners who call on her aid,
and joy to extol her, blest Mother, blest Maid.
So keep we this feast of our Mother serene,
and honour and praise her,
the heavens' bright Queen.
Soul of my Saviour sanctify my breast;
Body of Christ, be thou my saving guest;
Blood of my Saviour, bathe me in thy tide,
wash me with water flowing from thy side.
Strength and protection may thy Passion be;
O Blessed Jesus hear and answer me;
deep in thy wounds, Lord, hide and shelter me;
so shall I never, never part from thee.
Guard and defend me from the foe malign;
in death's dread moments make me only thine;
call me, and bid me come to thee on high,
when I may praise thee with thy saints for aye.
SPIRIT OF GOD, as strong as the wind,
Gentle as is the dove.
Give us your joy, and give us your peace,
Show to us Jesus' love.
You inspired men, long, long ago,
they then proclaimed your word;
We see their lives, serving mankind:
Through them your voice is heard.
Spirit of God ...
Without your help, we fail our Lord,
we cannot live His way,
we need your power, we need your strength,
following Christ each day.
Spirit of God ...
SWEET SACRAMENT DIVINE,
hid in thy earthly home,
lo! round thy lowly shrine,
with suppliant hearts we come;
Jesus, to thee our voice we raise,
in songs of love and heartfelt praise,
Sweet sacrament divine.
Sweet sacrament of peace,
dear home of every heart,
where restless yearnings cease,
and sorrows all depart,
there in thine ear all trustfully
we tell our tale of misery,
Sweet sacrament of peace.
Sweet sacrament of rest,
Ark from the ocean's roar,
within thy shelter blest
soon may we reach the shore.
Save us, for still the tempest raves;
save, lest we sink beneath the waves
Sweet sacrament of rest.
Sweet sacrament divine,
earth's light and jubilee,
in thy far depths doth shine
thy Godhead's majesty;
sweet light, so shine on us, we pray
that earthly joys may fade away,
Sweet sacrament divine.
Take my life and let it be
consecrated, Lord to thee;
take my moments and my days,
let them flow in ceaseless praise.
Take my hands, and let them move
at the impulse of thy love.
Take my feet, and let them be
swift and purposeful for thee.
Take my voice, and let me sing
always, only, for my King.
Take my intellect and use
every power as thou shalt choose.
Take my will, and make it thine:
it shall be no longer thine.
Take my heart; it is thine own:
it shall be thy royal throne.
Take my love; my Lord, I pour
at thy feet its treasure-store.
Take myself, and I will be
ever, only, all for thee.
Teach me, my God and King,
in all things thee to see;
and what I do in anything
to do it as for thee!
A man that looks on glass,
on it may stay his eye;
or if he pleaseth, through it pass,
and then the heaven espy.
All may of thee partake;
nothing can be so mean
which with this tincture, 'for thy sake',
will not grow bright and clean.
A servant with this clause
makes drudgery divine;
who sweeps a room, as for thy laws,
make that and the action fine.
This is the famous stone
that turneth all to gold;
for that which God doth touch and own
cannot for less be told.
Tell his praise in song and story,
bless the Lord in heart and voice:
in my God is all my glory,
come before him and rejoice.
From my terrors,
Christ the Lord has set me free
Join to praise his name together,
he who hears his people's cry;
tell his praise, come wind or weather,
shining faces lifted high.
From my terrors,
Christ the Lord has set me free
To the Lord whose love has found them
cry the poor in their distress;
swift his angels camped around them
prove him sure to save and bless.
From my terrors,
Christ the Lord has set me free
God it is who hears our crying
though the spark of faith be dim.
Taste and see! Beyond denying
blessed are those who trust in him.
From my terrors,
Christ the Lord has set me free
Tell me the old, old story of unseen things above,
of Jesus and his glory, of Jesus and his love,
tell me the story simply, as to a little child;
for I am weak and weary, and helpless, and defiled:
Tell me the old, old story (3 times)
of Jesus and his love!
Tell me the story slowly, that I may take it in,
that wonderful redemption, God's remedy for sin.
Tell me the story often, for I forget so soon;
the early dew of morning has passed away at noon.
Tell me the old, old story (3 times)
of Jesus and his love!
Tell me the story softly, with earnest tones and grave;
remember, I'm the sinner whom Jesus came to save.
Tell me the story always, if you would really be,
if any time of trouble a comforter to me.
Tell me the old, old story (3 times)
of Jesus and his love!
Tell me the same old story when you have cause to fear
that this world's empty glory is costing me too dear.
Yes, and when that world's glory shall dawn upon my soul,
tell me the old, old story, 'Christ Jesus makes me whole.'
Tell me the old, old story (3 times)
of Jesus and his love!
The Church's one foundation
is Jesus Christ her Lord;
she is his new creation
by water and the word:
from heaven he came and sought her
to be his holy Bride,
with his own blood he bought her,
and for her life he died.
Elect from every nation,
yet one o'er all the earth,
her charter of salvation
One Lord, one faith, one birth;
One holy name she blesses,
partakes one holy food,
and to one hope she presses
with every grace endued.
Though with a scornful wonder
men see her sore opprest,
by schisms rent asunder
by heresies distrest,
yet saints their watch are keeping,
their cry goes up, 'How long?'
and soon the night of weeping
shall be the morn of song.
'Mid toil and tribulation,
and tumult of her war,
she waits the consummation
of peace for evermore;
till with the vision glorious
her longing eyes are blest,
and the great Church victorious
shall be the Church at rest.
Yet she on earth hath union
with God the Three in One
and mystic sweet communion
with those whose rest in won:
O happy ones and holy!
Lord give us grace that we
like them the meek and lowly,
on high may dwell with thee.
THE DAY OF RESURRECTION!
Earth tell it out abroad;
the Passover of gladness
the Passover of God!
From death to life eternal,
from earth unto the sky,
our Christ hath brought us over
with hymns of victory.
Our hearts be pure from evil,
that we may see aright
The Lord in rays eternal
of resurrection light;
And listening to his accents,
may hear so clam and plain
his own `All hail' and, hearing,
may raise the victor strain.
Now let the heavens be joyful,
and earth her song begin,
the round world keep high triumph,
and all that is therein;
Let all things seen and unseen
their notes of gladness blend,
for Christ the Lord hath risen,
our joy that hath no end.
1. The Day thou gavest, Lord, is ended:
the darkness falls at thy behest;
to thee our morning hymns ascended;
thy praise shall sanctify our rest.
2. We thank thee that thy Church unsleeping,
while earth rolls onward into light,
through all the world her watch is keeping
and rests not now by day or night.
3. As o'er each continent and island
the dawn leads on another day,
the voice of prayer is never silent,
nor dies the strain of praise away.
4. The sun that bids us rest is waking
our brethren neath the western sky,
and hour by hour fresh lips are making
thy wondrous doings heard on high.
5. So be it, Lord, thy throne shall never,
like earth's proud empires, pass away;
thy kingdom stands, and grows for ever,
till all thy creatures own thy sway.
The First Nowell, the angels did say
was to certain poor shepherds in fields as they lay;
in fields where they lay a-keeping their sheep,
on a cold winter's night that was so deep.
Nowell, Nowell, Nowell, Nowell,
Born is the King of Israel!
They looked up and saw a star
as it shone in the East, beyond them far;
and to the earth it gave great light,
and so it continued both day and night.
And by the light of that great star,
three wise men came from country far;
to seek for a King was their intent,
and to follow the star wherever it went.
This star drew nigh to the Northwest;
o'er Bethlehem it took its rest,
and there it did both stop and stay,
right over the place where Jesus lay.
Then entered in those wise men three,
full reverently upon their knee.
And offered there in his presence
their gold and myrrh and frankincense.
Then let us all with one accord
sing praises to our heavenly Lord,
who hath made heaven and earth of nought,
and with his blood mankind hath bought.
Last night I lay a sleeping,
there came a dream so fair
I stood in old Jerusalem
beside the temple there.
I heard the children singing,
and ever as they sang
methought the voice of Angels
from Heaven in answer rang:
"Jerusalem! Jerusalem!
Lift up your gates and sing!
Hosanna in the highest!
Hosanna to your King!"
And then methought my dream was changed
the streets no longer rang,
hushed were the glad Hosannas
the little children sang;
The sun grew dark with mystery,
the morn was cold and chill
as the shadow of a cross arose
upon a lonely hill.
"Jerusalem! Jerusalem!
Hark how the Angels sing!
Hosanna in the highest!
Hosanna to your King!"
And once again the scene was changed
new earth there seemed to be.
I saw the Holy City
beside the tideless sea.
The light of God was on its streets,
the gates were open wide,
and all who would might enter
and no one was denied.
No need of moon or stars by night,
or sun to shine by day,
it was the new Jerusalem
that would not pass away.
It was the new Jerusalem
that would not pass away.
"Jerusalem! Jerusalem!
Sing for the night is o'er!
Hosanna in the highest!
Hosanna to your King!
Hosanna in the highest!
Hosanna to your King!"
(1892 Words by FE Weatherly, music by Stephen Adams)
There is a river that flows from God above;
there is a fountain that's filled with his great love.
Come to the waters, there is a great supply;
there is a river that shall never run dry.
Wash me with the water, and then I shall be clean;
white as the new snow, if you remove my sin.
Come to the waters ...
Plunged in the water, the tomb of our rebirth,
so may we rise up to share in Christ's new life.
Come to the waters ...
All who are thirsty, now hear God as he calls;
come to the Lord's side, his life pours out for all.
Come to the waters ...
Safe in the new Ark, the Church of Christ our Lord,
praise God for water, his sign to save the world.
Come to the waters ...
There was a time in England
a time of faith and love,
when men believed that Jesus
came down from heaven above;
came down, and on his altar,
in consecrated Host,
vouchsafed to all who sought him
Love to the uttermost.
The multitudes pressed round him
and thronged his holy seat
only to touch his garment
only to kiss his feet
And from him went forth virtue
And healing powers and grace;
They knew his loving presence
who might not see his face.
Then came the unbelievers
they wrecked the house of God;
The sacrament of Jesus
beneath their feet they trod;
Tore down the sacred altar,
defiled his holy shrine;
cast out the mystic presence
of Jesus, Lord divine.
But as for us, to Jesus
in faith and hope we turn,
Again would see that lamplight
before the altar burn;
The lamp that speaks of Jesus,
our Master and our Lord,
who dwells upon his altar,
by Angel-hosts adored.
O deep be our repentance
accepted may it be;
and so from sin and evil
shall we at length be free;
Then may we hope for pardon
from God who reigns above,
and hope shall make us sharers
in Jesu's perfect love.
O Mary, God's own Mother,
pray for our native land;
And ye, O saints and angels,
around the throne who stand;
pray for our darkened country,
that faith may live again,
that Jesus in his Sacrament
once more supreme may reign.
Therefore we before him bending,
this great sacrament revere:
types and shadows have their ending,
for the newer rite is here;
faith our outward sense befriending,
makes the inward vision clear.
Glory let us give and blessing
to the Father and the Son,
honour might and praise addressing,
while eternal ages run;
ever too his love confessing,
who, from both, with both is one. Amen.
THINE BE THE GLORY,
risen conquering Son,
endless is the victory
thou o'er death hast won.
angels in bright raiment
rolled the stone away,
kept the folder grave clothes,
where thy body lay.
Thine be the glory!
risen conquering Son,
endless is the victory
thou o'er death hast won!
Lo, Jesus meets us, risen from the tomb;
lovingly he greets us,
scatters fear and gloom;
let the church with gladness,
hymns of triumph sing,
for her Lord is living,
death has lost its sting.
Thine be the glory! ...
No more we doubt thee,
glorious Prince of life;
life is nought without thee:
aid us in our strife;
make us more than conquerors,
through thy deathless love:
bring us safe to Jordan
to thy home above.
Thine be the glory! ...
This is my Body, broken for you,
bringing forgiveness, making you free.
Take it and eat it, and when you do,
do it in love for me.
This is my blood poured out for you,
bringing forgiveness, making you free.
Take it and drink it, and when you do,
do it in love for me.
Back to my Father soon I shall go.
Do not forget me; then you will see
I am still with you, and you will know
you're very close to me.
Filled with my Spirit, how you will grow!
You are my branches; I am the tree
If you are faithful, others will know
you are alive in me.
Love one another - I have loved you,
and I have shown you how to be free;
serve one another, and when you do,
do it in love for me.
This is the day, this is the day,
that the Lord has made, that the Lord has made.
We will rejoice, we will rejoice,
and be glad in it, and be glad in it
This is the day that the Lord has made
We will rejoice and be glad in it.
This is the day, this is the day,
that the Lord has made.
This is the day, this is the day,
when he rose again, when he rose again.
We will rejoice, we will rejoice,
and be glad in it, and be glad in it.
This is the day when he rose again.
We will rejoice and be glad in it.
This is the day, this is the day,
when he rose again.
Thou didst leave thy throne and thy kingly crown
When thou camest to earth for me;
but in Bethlehem's home there was found to room
for thy holy nativity:
O come to my heart, Lord Jesus;
there is room in my heart for thee.
Heaven's arches rang when the angels sang
proclaiming thy royal degree;
but in lowly birth didst thou come to earth,
and in great humility.
Thou camest, O Lord, with the living word
that should set thy people free;
but with mocking scorn and with crown of thorn
they bore thee to Calvary:
When all heaven shall ring, and her choirs shall sing,
at thy coming to victory,
let thy voice call me home, saying, Yet there is room
there is room at my side for thee:
Thou who almighty Word
Chaos and darkness heard
and took their flight;
Hear us, we humbly pray,
and where the gospel day
sheds not its glorious ray
Let there be light
Thou who didst come to bring
on thy redeeming wing
healing and sight,
Health to the sick in mind
sight to the inly blind
O now to all mankind
Let there be light!
Spirit of truth and love
life-giving, holy dove,
speed forth thy flight;
move o'er the waters' face,
bearing the lamp of grace,
and in earth's darkest place
Let there be light!
Blessèd and holy Three,
Glorious Trinity,
Wisdom, Love, Might,
Boundless as ocean's tide
rolling in fullest pride,
through the world far and wide
Let there be light!
Thy kingdom come, on bended knee
the passing ages pray;
and faithful souls have yearned to see
on earth that kingdom's day.
But the slow watches of the night
not less to God belong;
and for the everlasting right
the silent stars are strong.
And lo, already on the hills
the flags of dawn appear;
gird up your loins, ye prophet souls,
proclaim the day is near:
The day in whose clear-shining light
all wrong shall stand revealed,
when justice shall be throned in might,
and every hurt be healed;
When knowledge, hand in hand with peace,
shall walk the earth abroad:
the day of perfect righteousness,
the promised Day of God.
To God be the glory, great things he has done!
So loved he the world that he gave us his Son;
who yielded his life an atonement for sin,
and opened the life gate that all may go in.
Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!
Let the earth hear his voice!
Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! Let the people rejoice!
O come to the Father through Jesus the Son:
and give him the glory! Great things he has done!
O perfect redemption, the purchase of blood!
To every believer the promise of God;
The vilest offender who truly believes,
that moment from Jesus a pardon receives.
Praise the Lord ...
Great things he has taught us, great things he has done,
and great our rejoicing through Jesus the Son;
but purer and higher, and greater will be
Our wonder, our rapture, when Jesus we see.
Praise the Lord ...
The Church is surrounded by storm clouds today,
and many have wandered down heresy's way.
but firmly we hold to the faith we've received
and know it's in Jesus that we have believed.
Praise the Lord...
And so we acclaim him our King and our Lord
who here on the throne of his altar adored,
has shared his new life so that we all might live
and go out to others his love now to give.
Praise the Lord...
To God be the glory, great things he has done,
He gave us Our Lady to mother his Son.
Her spotless conception made angels rejoice
so we join all Heaven, and sing with one voice.
Praise the Lord! praise the Lord!
Let the earth hear his voice.
Praise the Lord! praise the Lord!
Let the people rejoice.
In Mary we see what we hope to receive,
we're weak but O Jesus your love we believe.
At Stable in Bethlehem God came to earth
and animals knelt there and worshipped his birth.
They knelt and adored him, Our Lady looked on,
bathed bright in the glory that shone from her Son.
At Wedding in Cana, Christ worked his first sign.
Said steward to Mary, `We have no more wine!'
She turned to her Son, for his help she then prayed:
as always he heard her and came to their aid.
As Mary stood by at the foot of the Cross,
while Jesus, her Son, there redeemed Adam's loss,
a sword pierced her heart, but the tears that she shed,
were soon turned to joy when he rose from the dead.
At last Mary's time with her children was done.
How could death hold down the immaculate one?
Called straight to the bosom of Jesus above,
He crowned her with glory, so great was his love.
The Church is surrounded by storm clouds today,
and many have wandered down heresy's way.
A shimmering light in the dark sky we see
O lead us to Jesus, sweet star of the sea!
And so we acclaim him our King and our Lord
who here on the throne of his altar adored,
has shared his new life so that we all might live
and go out to others his love now to give.
To God our great salvation
a triumph song we raise,
with hymns of adoration
and everlasting praise.
That name beyond all naming,
from age to age adored,
we lift on high, proclaiming
the greatness of the Lord.
The King of all creation
is near to those who call;
the God of our salvation
has stooped to save us all
lift high your hearts and voices,
his praises sound again;
in God his earth rejoices
for evermore. Amen!
Vaster far than any ocean
deeper than the deepest sea
is the love of Christ my Saviour,
reaching though eternity.
But my sins are truly many,
is God's grace so vast, so deep?
Yes, there's grace o'er sin abounding,
grace to pardon, grace to keep.
Can he quench my thirst for ever?
Will his Spirit strength impart?
Yes, he gives me living water,
springing up within my heart.
The Spirit lives to set us free
Walk, walk in the Light!
He binds us all in unity:
Walk, walk in the Light!
Walk in the light (3 times)
Walk in the light of the Lord!
Jesus promised life to all...
The dead were wakened by his call...
He died in pain on Calvary...
to save the lost like you and me...
We know his death was not the end...
he gave his Spirit to be our friend...
By Jesus' love our wound were healed...
the Father's kindness is revealed...
The Spirit lives in you and me...
His light will shine for all to see...
Walk with me, O my Lord
through the darkest night
and brightest day.
Be at my side, O Lord,
hold my hand
and guide me on my way.
Sometimes the road seems long,
my energy is spent.
Then, Lord, I think of you
and I am given strength.
Walk with me ...
Stones often bar my path
and there are times I fall,
but you are always there
to help me when I call.
Walk with me ...
Just as you calmed the sin
and walked upon the sea,
conquer, my living Lord,
the storms that threaten me.
Walk with me ...
Help me to pierce the mists
that could my heart and mind
so that I shall not fear
the steepest mountain-side.
Walk with me ...
As once you healed the lame
and gave sight to the blind,
help me when I'm downcast
to hold my head up high.
Walk with me ...
We three kings of Orient are,
bearing gifts we traverse afar.
Field and fountain, moor and mountain,
following yonder star.
O star of wonder, star of might
Star with royal beauty bright
Westward leading, still proceeding
guide us to thy perfect light!
Born a king on Bethlehem plain,
Gold I bring, to crown him again -
King for ever, ceasing never,
over us all to reign:
O star of wonder...
Frankincense to offer have I;
incense owns a Deity nigh:
prayer and praising, all men raising,
worship Him, God most high:
O star of wonder...
Myrrh is mine; its bitter perfume
breathes a life of gathering gloom;
sorrowing, sighing, bleeding, dying,
sealed in the stone-cold tomb:
O star of wonder...
Glorious now, behold Him arise,
King, and God, and sacrifice
heaven sings alleluia
Alleluia the earth replies:
O star of wonder...
We wish you a merry Christmas,
We wish you a merry Christmas,
We wish you a merry Christmas,
and a happy new year!
Good tidings we bring
of Jesus your king
we wish you a merry Christmas
and a happy new year!
We'll sing you a Christmas carol
we'll sing you a Christmas carol
we'll sing you a Christmas carol
so quickly draw near.
Good tidings we bring
of Jesus your king
we wish you a merry Christmas
and a happy new year!
We'll tell you the Christmas story
We'll tell you the Christmas story
We'll tell you the Christmas story
so make sure you hear!
Good tidings we bring
of Jesus your king
we wish you a merry Christmas
and a happy new year!
Welcome all ye noble saints of old,
as now before your very eyes unfold
the wonders all so long ago foretold.
God and man at table are sat down.
God and man at table are sat down.
Elders, martyrs, all are falling down,
prophets, patriarchs are gath'ring round;
what angels longed to see now man has found.
Who is this who spreads the vict'ry feast?
Who is this who makes our warring cease?
Jesus, risen Saviour, Prince of Peace.
Beggars lame, and harlots also here;
repentant publicans are drawing near;
wayward sons come home without a fear.
Worship in the presence of the Lord
with joyful songs, and hearts in one accord,
and let our host at table be adored.
When at last this earth shall pass away,
when Jesus and his bride are one to stay
the feast of love is just begun that day.
When I survey the wondrous cross,
on which the Prince of Glory died,
my richest gain I count but loss,
and pour contempt on all my pride.
Forbid it Lord, that I should boast
save in the strength of Christ my God;
all the vain things that charm me most,
I sacrifice them to his blood.
See from his head, his hands, his feet,
sorrow and love flow mingled down;
did e'er such love and sorrow meet,
or thorns compose so rich a crown?
His dying crimson like a robe,
spreads o'er his body on the Tree;
then am I dead to all the globe,
and all the globe is dead to me.
Were the whole realm of nature mine,
that were a present far too small;
love so amazing, so divine,
demands my soul, my life, my all.
When the King shall come again
all his power revealing,
splendour shall announce his reign,
life and joy and healing:
earth no longer in decay,
hope no more frustrated;
this is God's redemption day
longingly awaited.
In the desert trees take root
fresh from his creation;
plants and flowers and sweetest fruit
join the celebration:
rivers spring up from the earth,
barren lands adorning;
valleys, this is your new birth,
mountains, greet the morning!
Strengthen feeble hands and knees,
fainting hearts, be cheerful!
God who comes for such as these
seeks and saves the fearful:
now the deaf can hear the dumb
sing away their weeping;
blind eyes see the injured come
walking, running, leaping.
There God's highway shall be seen
where no roaring lion,
nothing evil or unclean
walks the road to Zion:
ransomed people homeward bound
all your praises voicing,
see your Lord with glory crowned,
share in his rejoicing!
While shepherds watched their flocks by night,
all seated on the ground,
the angel of the Lord came down
and glory shone around.
'Fear not' said he, for mighty dread
had seized their troubled mind -
'Glad tidings of great joy I bring
to you and all mankind:
'To you in David's town this day
is born of David's line
a saviour, who is Christ the Lord,
and this shall be the sign:
'The heavenly babe you there shall find
to human view displayed,
all tightly wrapped in swathing bands
and in a manger laid.'
Thus spake the seraph, and forthwith
appeared a shining throng
of angels praising God, who thus
addressed their joyful song:
`All glory be to God on high,
and to the earth be peace;
good-will henceforth from highest heaven
begin and never cease!'
Why God have you forsaken me
more distant now the more I cry?
Must I, alone unanswered, go
like one unloved alone to die?
Our fathers when they prayed to you
in every need, in every prayer,
were heard by you and saved by you,
and never doubted that you care!
But now my people turn on me
with hate, not pity, in their eyes;
and all who see me, see in me
no man, a worm that they despise!
Let God deliver him, they say;
his God would save him, was his claim!
They only wait to see me die;
they share my clothing in a game!
My hands and feet they bind to wound;
my bones they number, and each breath,
until with burning thirst I taste
the bitter agony of death!
My God, I trust you, trust you still -
be near, be near to hear my prayer!
I know that all who hope in you
are safe in death from death's despair.
Then I and all who live for you,
this day and till the end of days,
will tell of ever-answered prayer
and pray this world's most thankful praise!
WIND WIND blow on me;
wind, wind, set me free;
wind, wind, my Father sent
the blessed Holy Spirit.
Jesus told us all about you,
how we could not live without you,
with his blood the power bought
to help us live the life he taught
Wind, wind ...
When we're weary you console us
when we're lonely you enfold us;
when in danger you uphold us, blessed Holy Spirit
Wind, wind ...
When unto the Church you came
it was not in your own but Jesus' name
Jesus Christ is still the same,
he sends the Holy Spirit.
Wind, wind ...
Set us free to love our brothers;
set us free to live for others
that the world the Son might see
and Jesus' name exalted be.
Wind, wind ...
Ye watchers and ye holy ones
bright seraphs, cherubim and thrones
raise the glad strain, alleluia!
Cry out dominions, princedoms, powers,
virtues, archangels, angels' choirs,
Alleluia, alleluia,
alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!
O higher than the cherubim,
more glorious than the seraphim,
lead their praises, alleluia!
Thou bearer of the eternal word,
most gracious magnify the Lord,
alleluia ...
Respond, ye souls in endless rest,
ye patriarchs and prophets blest,
alleluia, alleluia!
Ye holy twelve, ye martyrs strong,
all saints triumphant raise the song
alleluia ...
O friends, in gladness let us sing,
supernal anthems echoing,
alleluia, alleluia!
To God the Father, God the Son,
and God the Spirit, three in One,
alleluia ...
YE WHO OWN THE FAITH OF JESUS
sing the wonders that were done,
when the love of God the Father
o'er our sin the victory won,
when he made the Virgin Mary
Mother of his only Son.
Hail Mary, Hail Mary, Hail Mary full of grace
Blessèd were the chosen people
out of whom the Lord did come,
blessèd was the land of promise
fashioned for his earthly home;
but more blessèd far the mother
she who bore him in her womb.
Hail Mary, Hail Mary, Hail Mary full of grace
Wherefore let all faithful people
tell the honour of her name,
let the Church in her foreshadowed
part in her thanksgiving claim;
what Christ's mother sang in gladness
let Christ's people sing the same.
Hail Mary, Hail Mary, Hail Mary full of grace
May the Mother's intercession
on our homes a blessing win,
that the children all be prospered
strong and fair and pure within,
following our Lord's own footsteps,
firm in faith and free from sin.
Hail Mary, Hail Mary, Hail Mary full of grace
For the sick and for the aged,
for our dear ones far away,
for the hearts that mourn in secret,
all who need our prayers today,
for the faithful gone before us,
may the holy Virgin pray.
Hail Mary, Hail Mary, Hail Mary full of grace
Praise, O Mary, praise the Father,
praise thy Saviour and thy Son,
praise the everlasting Spirit,
who hath made thee ark and throne.
O'er all creatures high exalted,
lowly praise the three in one.
Hail Mary, Hail Mary, Hail Mary full of grace.
