THE INTRODUCTORY RITE

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

The priest greets the people:
The Lord be with you.
And also with you.

The Act of Penitence

We remember our sins and ask God to forgive us. The following words may be used, or a form based on the Kyries (‘Lord have mercy’) below.

I confess to almighty God, and to you, my brothers and sisters,
that I have sinned through my own fault:
in my thoughts and in my words,
in what I have done and in what I have failed to do;
and I ask blessed Mary, ever Virgin,
all the angels and saints,
and you, my brothers and sisters,
to pray for me to the Lord our God.

The priest says a prayer for forgiveness.

The Kyries follow.

... Lord, have mercy Lord have mercy.
... Christ, have mercy. Christ have mercy
... Lord, have mercy Lord have mercy.

Gloria when it is appointed

Glory to God in the Highest,
and peace to his people on earth.
Lord God, heavenly King, almighty God and Father,
we worship you, we give you thanks, we praise you for your glory.
Lord Jesus Christ, only Son of the Father,
Lord God, Lamb of God,
you take away the sin of the world : have mercy on us;
you are seated at the right hand of the Father ; receive our prayer.
For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord,
you alone are the Most High,
Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit,
in the glory of God the Father. Amen.

The Opening Prayer
The priest says the prayer, and at the end we all say Amen.

Please be seated after the prayer.

The Homily

The Creed

We Believe in one God, the Father almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven:
by the power of the Holy Spirit
he became incarnate of the Virgin Mary,
and was made man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures;
He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
with the Father and the Son he is worshipped and glorified.
He has spoken through the prophets.
We believe in one Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

 THE BIDDING PRAYERS

The response to each of the prayers is:

Lord, hear us.
Lord, graciously hear us.

or

Lord, in your mercy
hear our prayer.

at the end of the prayers, we say together:

Hail Mary, full of grace the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners
now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

The priest concludes the prayers.

LITURGY OF THE EUCHARIST

 THE OFFERTORY

The bread and wine are prepared on the altar

My Brothers and sisters, pray that our sacrifice
may be acceptable to God the Almighty Father.
May the Lord accept the sacrifice at your hands,
for the praise and glory of his name,
for our good and the good of all his Church.

The priest says the prayer over the gifts.

THE EUCHARISTIC PRAYER

The Lord be with you.
And also with you.

Lift up your hearts.
We lift them up to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
It is right to give him thanks and praise.

The priest sings the Preface for the day

Holy, holy, holy Lord,
God of power and might.
Heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest!
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!
Hosanna in the highest!

The Consecration

This is the holiest part of the Mass.
The priest remembers Jesus’ Last Supper with the apostles,
and he asks God to make the bread and wine into the body and blood of Christ.
In Church, people usually kneel for this part of the Mass.

Let us proclaim the mystery of faith:

1. Christ has died! Christ is risen!
Christ will come again!

2. Dying you destroyed our death.
Rising you restored our life.
Lord Jesus, come in glory.

3. When we eat this bread and drink this cup
we proclaim your death, Lord Jesus,
until you come in glory.

4. Lord, by your cross and resurrection
you have set us free.
You are the Saviour of the world.

The priest concludes the prayer.

...for ever and ever. Amen!

THE RITE OF COMMUNION

The priest invites all to say the Lord's Prayer.

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

The priest continues.

Deliver us, Lord, from every evil, .... our Saviour, Jesus Christ.

For the Kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours,
now and for ever.

 The Peace

The priest prays for peace:
Lord Jesus Christ, .... for ever and ever.
Amen.

The Peace of the Lord be with you always.
And also with you.

Let us offer one another a sign of peace.

We greet one another in the peace of Christ.

 Agnus Dei

Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world:
have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world:
have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the world:
grant us peace.

The priest shows the host - the body of Christ - to us and says:

This is the Lamb of God,
who takes away the sins of the world.
Happy are those who are called to his supper.
Lord, I am not worthy to receive you,
but only say the word
and I shall be healed.

Holy Communion

If you are not a Catholic, you may come forward for a blessing.

The Blessing And Dismissal

The Lord be with you.
And also with you.

A special blessing prayer may follow here. After each prayer, reply Amen.

May almighty God bless you,
the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Amen.

Go in the peace of Christ. or other words
Thanks be to God.
