BoulogneA day trip to Boulogne in France takes place in alternate years for all those Year 8 pupils who have studied French in Year 7. The trip takes place on a Friday in early March. Coaches leave the school at about midnight and travel down to Dover. We normally cross the Channel using a ferry (although some years we use the Channel Tunnel). We arrive on French soil about 9 o’clock in the morning. Our first visit is to a French hypermarket just outside Boulogne. We then return to the old part of the town of Boulogne where, in groups, we visit the cathedral and some shops. Most groups also visit a French café. After an opportunity for further shopping and a chance to get something to eat for lunch, we return to the coaches at about 3 o’clock for the return journey home. We usually arrive back in Cheadle at about eleven
o’clock at night (about 23 hours after our departure). The vast majority of
pupils find this a tiring but very enjoyable day. Incidentally, it is also an
excellent opportunity to make use of all the French learned in Year 7 ! Have a look at what we got up to the last time we went. On s'est bien amusé! |
