Pupils with Special Educational NeedsPainsley has a number of children with special educational needs. The staff are kept well informed of the details of the individual care and attention needed by some pupils. At any time there may be about twenty statemented pupils, some for learning needs and some for medical needs. The Special Education Needs Co-ordinator liaises with the various Heads of Departments concerning the curriculum for pupils with Special Needs and maintains a close link with the County Educational Psychologist. Parents are visited to discuss pupil progress. Pupils are sometimes withdrawn for extra tuition. Peripatetic tutors and Personal Welfare Assistants work at Painsley as part of the support for pupils with special needs. A small group of parents visit the school to help support the work of the Special needs Department. The Governors and Staff have adopted a Special Education Needs Policy drawn up at school and regularly reviewed. A copy is available from the school on request. One of the the school governors is responsible for liaison with our Special Education Needs Department. "Relationships in the school are very good." Ofsted, April 1997 "Pastoral support and care for pupils is excellent" Ofsted, April 1997 |
