The Purpose of our School
"Catholic Education is above all a question of communicating Christ,
of helping to form Christ in the lives of others. The cause of Catholic
Education is the cause of Jesus Christ and of his Gospel at the service of
man."
Pope John Paul II
"A Catholic school is a Christian community in formation. Each
of its members should look outward to the wider community of the family, the
parish, the town, the world."
Painsley Catholic High School is a Christian community concerned with
educating individuals in the Catholic tradition. The school provides a
Christian ethos and climate in which our faith may grow and develop. In
doing so, it brings individuals to a deeper knowledge of their saviour, Jesus
Christ, and to an understanding of themselves. In fact, the School Motto
is "KNOW YOURSELF". Christ is the foundation of the whole
educational process in the school and the Gospel values must permeate its life
and work. Relationships and decisions will be made in the light of those
values and should be reflected in the curriculum. Daily prayer and regular
invitations to the celebration of the Eucharist are fundamental to the life of
the school.
We believe that each individual is unique and equal to others regardless of
sex, nationality, colour, creed, class, wealth or intellectual ability.
The all-embracing aim of the school is to enable each student to develop
fully their individual talents and to use these gifts for the benefit of the
society in which they live. This is achieved through the spiritual,
academic, social and sporting life of the school.
All students receive an equal share of resources and the commitment to
individual excellence ensures a concentration on strengths rather than a
persistent re-emphasising of difficulties. All teachers are mindful of the
fact that pupils will develop at different rates throughout their schooling.
We want students to be happy and enjoy their years at the school.
Pupils need to know, in a changing society, that they belong and are cared for,
that they are valued and helped. Hopefully, each child will be known and
loved. At Painsley Catholic High School we strive to provide equality of
opportunity and to give educational service of the highest quality.
We hope to inspire the caring, sharing, self-disciplined qualities, which
will enable our students to be a credit to themselves, their family, their
Church, and an asset to society as a whole.
