Monday

Readings

A reading from the prophet Isaiah (63:7)
I will tell of the Lord’s unfailing love; I praise him for all he has done for us. He has richly blessed the people of Israel because of his mercy and constant love.

Give thanks frequently to God for all the benefits he has given you, so you may be worthy to receive more. (St Louis IX of France)

Thanking Prayers

For the music we enjoy and those who produce it, the singers and musicians, we praise you, Lord. We give you thanks.

For our families, especially the adults who care for us, parents, grandparents, uncles and aunties, brothers and sisters, we praise you, Lord. We give you thanks.

Concluding Prayer

The Father’s love enfold us,
the grace of Christ uphold us,
the Holy Spirit guide us;
one God to walk beside us.
Amen.

Tuesday

Time Out from 12.20pm
in the Upper Room

Readings

A reading from the first letter of Saint Paul to the Corinthians (1:3-5)
May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace. I always give thanks to my God for you because of the grace he has given you through Christ Jesus. For in union with Christ you have become rich in all things, including all speech and all knowledge.

We will never know everything for which we should be grateful to God. (Jewish proverb)

Thanking Prayers

For the world around us, for trees and fields, birds and animals, for sunset and sunrise, for darkness and light, we praise you, Lord. We give you thanks.

For all the things we have in school to help us, for musical instruments, books, sports equipment and computers, we praise you, Lord.
We give you thanks.

Concluding Prayer

O God, make us more thankful for what we have received, more content with what we have, and more thoughtful of other people in need: we ask this in the name of the one who lived for us in poverty, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Wednesday

Readings

A reading from the first letter of Saint Paul to the Thessalonians (5:15-18)
At all times make it your aim to do good to one another and to all people. Be joyful always, pray at all times, be thankful in all circumstances. This is what God wants from you in your life in union with Christ Jesus.

Awake with a winged heart, and give thanks to God for another day of loving! (Kahil Gibran)

Thanking Prayers

For the food we have to eat and for those who work to produce and sell the food, we praise you, Lord. We give you thanks.

For priests and their parishes, for our chaplain and for the leaders of the local churches, we praise you, Lord. We give you thanks.

Concluding Prayer

Lord Jesus, we thank you for being our friend: when we are weak, you strengthen us,
when we are lonely you speak to us,
when we are sad, you comfort us,
when we are glad, you rejoice with us
you are our guide and our keeper,
your presence is our constant joy,
and our prayers are in your holy name.
Amen.

Thursday

12.20pm Mass in the Upper Room

Readings

A reading from the gospel according to Luke (1:48-49)
From now on all generations will call me blessed, for the Mighty One has done great things for me - holy is his name.

It is always springtime in the heart that loves God. (Saint John Vianney The Curé d’Ars)

Thanking Prayers

For teachers, office staff, welfare and midday assistants, and all who work in our school, we praise you, Lord. We give you thanks.

For friends in our class and friends at home, for everyone we meet today and every day, we praise you, Lord. We give you thanks.

Concluding Prayer

Lord, we thank you that you walk beside us -
your mighty hand to uphold us,
your heart of love to guide us,
your outstretched arms
to bring us to our journey’s end. Amen.

Friday

Readings

A reading from the book of Psalms (145:1-3)
I will proclaim your greatness, my God and king; I will thank you for ever and ever. Every day I will thank you; I will praise you for ever and ever. The Lord is great and is to be highly praised; his greatness is beyond understanding.

A holy life will produce the deepest impression. Lighthouses blow no horns; they only shine. (Dwight L. Moody)

Thanking Prayers

For the activities in our school, for sports clubs, for the orchestra, for all lunchtime activities, we praise you, Lord. We give you thanks.

For holidays and times of rest, for weekends and the summer holiday we are looking forward to now, we praise you, Lord. We give you thanks.

Concluding Prayer

In a world of change and hope,
of fear and adventure:
faithful God, glorify your name. Amen.
