There are many, many music sites on the World Wide Web. Many are to be found in the USA
and still more are commercial in nature. Organisations such as BECTA
and SCET,
based in the UK, are good starting points for educational music material.
The Scottish Council for Educational Technology (SCET) bookmark
selection has a search by category facility. Select 'Music' or 'Primary'.
The
Children's Music Web - Dedicated to 'music for kids', this American site containing
lots of information and links.
The BBC
Education website's index. Search for Music by either Primary or Secondary.
Composers'
Biographies and their Works - Contains a comprehensive list of composers with brief
biography and recommended recordings to listen to.
Online
Music dictionary The
World of Music - A multicultural site introducing music from Africa, Japan and South
America.
Jazz
Online - Contains interesting downloads and archives.
The
Blue Highway - One of the best blues history sites that includes sound clips from
famous blues artists.
Kit
Eakle's Virtual Music Classroom - Songs and games, Composer of the month, music
resources for teachers, lesson plans.
